will be getting it out of storage sometime in april, its being in there for about a 10 months, engine gets brought up to temp every 4 weeks, but other than that not much happens to it apart from it being on a ctek charger..... theres a local guy to me who i am going to come and spend a couple of hours with me going over the car (as i have never driven it) to make sure i dont do something i shouldn't in it and generally give it a check over.....

it had its last service in feb last year, the question is should i get it serviced straight away even though its not being driven etc?

cheers

Took mine out this weekend for the first time since November. Its been away for some work though, serviced at the same time etc. The main thing is make sure the battery is good and healthy (sounds like you have that covered).

So long as its been kept dry and started often I guess you wont have many issues.

Is it F1 or manual?

Just heading out in mine. Was out yesterday too, one of the first drives. Bloody starter motor jammed-and its brand new. Anyone else have/had this? A few whacks with something solid and it's sorted, still a pain.

One less thing to worry about that's all.

Main thing is to check, measure and top up or replace fluids and oil and battery before starting the car. If anything goes dry or flat, it can be a pain.

Last time I took mine out after laying it up over the winter, I was promptly, erm, stopped from making progress on the North Circular by a nice gentleman whose fancy car cameras had informed him that the MOT expired some 6 months earlier. So, yeah, check that stuff.

If it's a manual it'll probably be notchy, yes. But they always are in my experience. 1st to 3rd to 5th... Doesn't like the bottom side of the gate until the juices are flowing a bit thinner.

be careful not to put in too much oil / check manual - from memory needs to be measured when engine warm / if all oil at the bottom, easy to overfill

The official way to check the oil level is to run the engine until the oil temperature is over 70°C, shut the engine off and immediately check the level on the dipstick in the oil tank.

Some owners prefer to get the oil up to temperature and then check the oil level with the engine still idling.

On My 348 I've always used the factory recommended engine off method.

The only problem I've ever encountered has been that the oil is so clean, it was hard to see on the dipstick! - I've never had that problem on any other car I've owned!
