I'm still looking around and happened to be in a main dealer this weekend over a birthday road trip and found a LHD 430 Scuderia with 40+k miles so in budget.

I think I suddenly saw the light over why the 458 as beautiful and as capable as it is just doesn't seem to excite me. I bought a 911 turbo which I had for about a year but was unexcited then I switched for the GT2 I've had this past 10 years now and it still excites me. Seems that Scuderia is just the sort of rawness I love about my GT2.

But can you live with one? Odd trackday but also road trips of a couple of hundred miles in a day sometimes. Too noisy or rough? Or as capable of this as the GT2?

Totally a thing of beauty though seemed to have plenty of handmade race car look about it.

You'll be fine, they're not that raw, we had a doddering old git smile - BruceC on here (and his lovely Wife ) in one on one of our Euro tours back in 2009 and he did 3k miles in it inc a good half dozen Swiss/ Italian passes, no complaints at all

Fantastic car with the most epic gearbox when you are on one but never did 100 miles in mine in one go nor do I think personally I would want to especially if I had the missus in tow as they are quite noisey and firm.
Was my choice out of CS and 458 Speciale so I don't think you will be disappointed and far more special than a regular 458 IMHO

In bumpy road mode the ride is fine and most of the cabin noise is due to there being no carpets and carbon instead of leather. It is most definitely an 'event' to drive and the last of the single clutch gearboxes. The newer stuff isn't dull but has a very different more universal appeal.

...and that gearbox? I've read about the super fast changes etc but given it's basically a robotised manual, any particular issues with clutch I need to worry about?

The scud I'm looking at will come from main dealer with a two year warranty but it'll be for the long term ownership as per my GT2 has been.

Actually the specific car is at Wilmslow Ferrari -- an import from France with 40k+ miles. Any knowledge of it?

What evidence do you have for this? My F430 has done 31,000 miles and is still on its first clutch at only 38% worn.

The F1 system was significantly updated in the Scuderia models with a focus on clutch life and the quality of change. Some late F430's had the same architecture. The improvement to clutch life is well proven.

Of course even an early F430 with the older system that's not driven in anger, or in stop/start traffic, could see clutch life extended beyond the average.

When i started to read your post i thought there is no chance it could be the same person as i was also in the same showroom on Saturday and heard you talking about the GT2 and were looking at the Scud.I was about to post to ask if by chance it was in Cheshire before i read your other post.

I said to my wife that i did not think you would be disappointed with a Scud smile

I have a little bit on it: I believe it was new to Italy - at least I have seen it personally on Italian plates in 2011 and know it was on the same Italian plates in 2009. Subsequently French-registered and now UK-registered. It has been for sale at Stratstone since January last year, initially at £137,994 which was increased to £139,994 in February last year; to £138,994 in March; £134,994 in October; £129,900 in January this year; back up to £134,060 in February and now on £134,062 - don't know what the £2 difference is about! There was also some mucking about with a few quid difference between listings on difference websites. Must be some sort of genius sales tactic. Well apart from that it hasn't worked...

no input on the car .... but has anybody ever seen racing seats that were not "large" - I don't think I have ever seen a car with anything smaller than large for sale.

Edit: And I would also buy a Scud over a 458, especially if it is not supposed to be a daily driver and a replacement for a GT2

Saw a scud for sale in Marbella once with medium seats. They were very small!

The Service department at Carrs explained the difference in how the systems work. Of course it also depends how the car is driven with both models, but assuming all other factors are equal, the clutch on the Scud fares better.

I looked at a Scud for sale at Romans back in December which I'm pretty sure had standard/medium/small (ie not Large) seats. It pretty much had no extras except a spare wheel (which is very rare) which I found odd.

I think they'd had it for a while but funnily enough it sold the following week.

Thankfully I found a much better spec, lower mileage car a couple of weeks later which I paid £7k more for, but I'm very happy.

Buy one, you won't regret it. They're awesome!

The F1 Superfast II is a perfect match for the car and best/ most fun gearbox I've ever had. Simply brilliant, fast with that racey feel but not jerky. Revs right up to 9k and screams like a banshee. An improvement on the CS and feels more raw than a 458 Speciale so the pick of the bunch for me

Regards that pricing history, many thanks first of all, superb how stuff is known to the collective about unusual cars.

I'm really puzzled though. A friend in France sold his Scud middle of last year for 180k EU, I don't know the details but on the face of it was the same as this one apart from 2/3rds of the mileage.

How come this one seems stuck?

Regarding the spot -- crikey it's a small world! Were you the guy rocking up in that 458? I had a cheeky little look over that as we left, they're off the chart beautiful. Had a fun drive back to Buxton -- my partner had to empty out her handbag in readiness for the result of all that cornering and braking. What's with the average speed cameras? Fast through the corners, slow along the straights, I'm sure not what they had in mind!

Interesting, although not a main dealer car very similar price. I'm quite struck by the 2 year Ferrari warranty that comes with the one I've seen and the level of prep I think you get from Ferrari.

Is that reasonable or have I been taken in by the coffee and ambience? (and Testerossa + F40 to look at...)

One is Ferrari dealer + 40k miles. The other is indy dealer + 30k miles. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.
