F430 Servicing
Discussion
posted this on clubscud but didn't get much response :9 so my 430 is due a service soon, I've been using JCT600 which is a bit of a trek from me (200 mile round trip), plus I've not been overly happy with the service - they couldn't diagnose an exhaust rattle that took Shiltech about 20 minutes to fix (loose tail pipe trim). When i first got the car in 2014 i spoke to Gray Paul in Notts as they are the nearest main dealer to me, however wasn't impressed with the attitude of the service manager - basically they refused to price match JCT600 and his attitude was "you've got a Ferrari you can afford it", okay so it was only £200 odd quid more but its the principle, i don't know if that guys still there though.. someone on clubscud suggested they would price match an Indy!
So i'm looking at pther potential options, i could try Gray Paul Solihull, a little further but not a problem i'm going to be treated better that Notts and get good service to boot.... or is it the point to go independent? My cars got full Ferrari service history and part of me doesn't' want to break that as i'd be concerned as to the impact on value, that said howeve,r my cars been for sale for ages and hasn't sold for reasons unknown to me, is having an indy stamp going to make it worst - i can't sell it anyway lol
I've got Peter Higgins Sports Cars near me and of course Shiltech, Geoff seems okay and I've heard a few good things about Peter Higgins - anyone got any thoughts?

If you are serious about selling why not wait and see what the new owner wants ?
i am serious, its been the cheapest Manual for sale for a while (that cat d one excluded), it needs doing in a month, i can't wait another six months for a owner to come along and decide!Carrs Exeter are well renowned for service and advice.
Shiltech are fantastic are what they do and for anything that ISNT a service.
You'd be barking mad to get an independent to service it I'm afraid.
If Shiltech isn't far - I would suggest getting Geoff to have a pre service check - if it needs anything they use official Ferrari parts and will have a lower labour rate.
However as I mentioned, Service i'd say is imperative is a main Dealer - Ferrari Nottingham are very hit and miss (unfortunately most are), and as you say its a Ferrari, the cost is what it is and the car will be with us as long as it takes. Unfortunately for service they aren't the most forthcoming...
