430 Scuderia thoughts...
Discussion
Ive had a few Ferrari's over the years; 348, 355, 360. I wont use it much as I tend not to drive Monday to Friday; its a third car. Im planning a euro trip in whatever I buy. im very tempted to try a LHD 430 scuderia.
Inspections, brake and clutch wear are obvious areas for me to consider.
What else do I need to consider? Particular weaknesses? Must have options? What does/doesnt sell? Etc?
In respect of trade/dealer offers where would you start and what % off would you hope to achieve? 5%, 10% (I dont have a Px)
Any other thoughts and comments welcome...

I'm doing this from memory as I sold mine a couple of years ago, but options wise... stripe, led steering wheel, alcantara/carbon seats (were these standard?), harnesses, roll bar, stereo. They all help with resale and/or make it more usable.
As often with recent Ferraris, people thought the carbon parts were important (from memory engine bay and possibly light pods? we're available)I think the seats could be had in some technical fabric, alcantara and leather (same for parts of rest of interior)
I think the LED steering wheel is the most important from a resale perspective
Don't forget the nart stripes ! Expensive option and so important for resale. LED's on steering wheel are essential
Personally I wouldn't go near the technical fabric seats as every one I've seen has worn badly. Stick to Alacantara with colour cetre inserts rather than leather.
Harnesses add to occasion but for road driving a bit of a faff at times especially junctions.
Exterior Carbon bits ( Rear diffuser, headlight casing, front splitter ) are nice to have but not essential and don't seem to add any value.
Must admit the LHD cars are quite often funny specs compared to UK cars

Lovely looking car! I have a red one i may go to look at, but I've also found an unusual black one that I quite like. Do you also find that the low mile LHD cars are serviced less often? Is that a euro thing? Personally I wouldn't go near the technical fabric seats as every one I've seen has worn badly. Stick to Alacantara with colour cetre inserts rather than leather.

MOST IMPORTANT thing to insist on is Brake Discs in good condition.
Ferrari health check prior to me buying mine said something like 18% wear (can't remember exactly) but surface breaking up. Vendor put on a new set as part of the deal - this can be £10k so make sure they're in good condition...!
When I was looking for mine I wanted Stripe, LED steering wheels & Harnesses as for me it was essential to 'feel the part'. I also wanted the radio/nav option as I do intend to use it for Euro tours and as good as the exhaust sounds there are times when I want to listen to some music.
Mine also came with fire extinguisher, roll bar, Tyre Pressure monitoring + various other 'cosmetic' choices oh, and I got a Scuderia cf helmet which is pretty rare.
All-in-all a well spec'd car with over £23k of options. I'm very pleased.
Just need warmer temperatures/drier roads as she's fitted with Corsa tyres which aren't the best [under statement] at this time of year.

Happy to chime in here, as quickMoose mentioned I imported one a couple of years ago and happy to share the pro's and cons.
1. The import process. You can as I did attempt the minefield of BS DVLA paperwork that will constantly get kicked back (make that posted back as all DVLA walk in's are now closed) or pay a relatively small fee to Jack at mycarimport.co.uk and let him SVA the car. Also, because the car has been SVA'd you'll be please to hear annual tax is £240 so won't be long before its paid for itself. I bought my car from Charles Pozzi in Paris (essentially the French main dealer) and with all the right paperwork DVLA still made life difficult so would advise going direct to Jack.
2. Insurance. Your insurance Co will allow insurance on the chassis number, but only for a limited period, this is now law and if not imported within x period they will revoke insurance. Another reason to save time and pay to complete the import.
3. The car. As mention by all other posters, do your homework as there are some horrors out there. I nearly bought a previously smashed up and colour changed 360 CS and without doing some serious digging would have bought into a nightmare. If poss go to a main dealer and they will also throw in a 2 year warranty. Mobile.de and autoscout.de are great sources.
4. Spec. Not too many options, mostly materials such as extended carbon and alcantera. Obvious things such as LEDs, roll cage, harnesses all add to the occasion.
5. What to add. My usual next step after buying a car is changing the exhaust. Couple of guys on here advised I buy the car first and then think again. They were right. They are LOUD lol. So rather than buying a £10k Capristo Exhaust give Competing Systems a call and buy their remote valve unit from the full system (£500). It's all you'll need and you'll have 100% control over the sound. Open the valves (esp a cold start) and you basically have straight pipes.
All I can say is enjoy the journey and don't rush. There is a fairly decent selection of cars out there and as mentioned elsewhere sit at a really good price point --- for now
Definately keep us update on progress and the end result.
They are a mega thing and you won't be disappointed - good luck and welcome to the club.

Thank you for the info; really useful. Sounds like SVA is the way tango and the tax saving is a nice bonus. Your car looks stunning in the pictures. I usually buy red but I cant stop thinking about a black scud, it just seems to suit it so well!
Thanks and very welcome Chris. Personally, I've had three red Ferrari's previously and when I came to look for a Scud a friend of mine sowed a seed regarding black as an option. Must admit being a lover of red Fezza's I did struggle for a while, had I made the right decision, was I settled on the black - but after nearly three years of ownership I'm more than happy with the black / yellow stitching & calipers combo. While still clearly a Ferrari the black gives it such a menacing look, especially under lights at night. Think it also plays to the 'cool-nes' (whatever that is) because it's not black. Oh another recommend - get the front third covered with a clear bra. The paint can be quite soft and prone to chipping, an especial nightmare for black.
Enjoy the journey.

Beautiful car Slickhillsy!I would add though if anyone else goes for clear bra/PPF get whole panels done not partial, it's such a false economy, when it gets chipped up you'll still end up painting the whole panel anyway which will cost more than the balance of the extra film in the first place. Also IMO it doesn't look great, especially as the unprotected area starts to pick up chips and other issues, making the line more prominent.
On the Scud however; What an awesome car and as others have said the undervalued of the big 3 V8 short production cars, it's the last of the analogue Ferrari's for me, the whole experience from the 458 Italia onwards is just so different.
LHD looks great value for alot of track or european work, I do know of a very good RHD Rosso car that's going PX in a couple of weeks that could be a great buy for someone.
On the decision of colour...there is no wrong choice here...
even with a list this long:
Orange Metallic
Argento Nurburgring
Avio Metallizzato
Bianco Avus
Bianco Fuji
Blu Pozzi
Blu Scozia
Blu Tour de France
Felipe Massa's in Bianco Avus
Giallo Modena
Grigio Ferro
Grigio Medio
Grigio Opaco (matt)
Grigio Scuro
Grigio Silverstone
Grigio Titanio
Nero (Daytona)
Gold
Rosso Corsa
Rosso Mugello
Rosso Rubino
Rosso Scuderia
Nuovo Rosso Scuderia
Vinaccia
I will add though that the perceptive amongst you will note something missing from Mr Hillsy's car... such that those of a certain age will recall on the original Playstation and the original Ridge Racer, that when you'd got to the top you faced the 'black car'. I can confirm that with Slick's car in your rearview mirror the image and the pace at which it catches you is EXACTLY the same feeling as in the game! and on the continent LHD makes it even more of a weapon.
Keeping it clean must be a bh, and whatever colour you go for it's a crowd stopping, event of a car....but in black it's just more 'evil' or threatening...
