Early days yet but what are your thoughts?

Lamborghini seem to be launching a product with all the hallmarks and early indications that it will sit right in Speciale territory as an alternative.

Built around the same ethos of Performance,Passion and Soul can it command the same respect that the Speciale has and sit alongside as an equal or will it just be another Lamborghini?

Yes I have ordered one and never had anything against the Speciale other than I couldn't get one mad

Congratulations looking forward to seeing the Huracan - even more excited to see how good the P14/720S is compared to it. See you in the summer for a showdown?

You referring to performance or to value/price appreciation?

With regards to performance, I am pretty sure it will outperform a Speciale (as it should beeing the newer car). No news yet on the 488 VS, but I would assume that will be faster in a straight line thx to the turbo engine (with then probably 700 plus hp). If the Nring time is to be believed, the Huracan might do well in a track comparison though. It would probably be my choice over the 488 mainly based on the engine, even without having driven or even seen either of them.

With regards to value - do not follow Lambos closely, but my feeling is that the only ones that have a shot at appreciating are the V12 cars (and even with those it seems only the SV versions doing well - at least looking at models built during Audi ownership). If by the time they are on the road market environment is still as today, then I'd say they will initially trade at the premium - in the long run, I so not think this will hold though (same goes for the majority of cars currently trading at high prices, Speciale included). I am not sure if Lambo will limit production, but if they don't I think there will be plenty of cars built (thanks to people currently buying pretty much any car that has a shot at appreciating), which might not be the best for long term values.

I'm referring more to the car itself and can it create the following to be special and a must have car on people's wish list. I am sure that given the chance anyone would take a Speciale in a heart beat, I would! I've always liked Ferrari's approach to that something extra they add to the Competitzione,Stradale,Scuderias,Speciale's etc. Ferrari manage to make these models something that is forever wanted and aspired to by petrol heads. They are not just cars but icons and heads of state of their model range for years to come, something we wish we had kept or bought in the first place!

The 458 is a great car as is a Huracan albeit in their different ways but neither in standard guise would quite reach the pinnacle of "Must Haves" Ones to keep forever that really stir the emotions, drivers cars just for the sake of driving, that's what Ferrari have been so good at,topping of the range with the special offerings vehicles.

Lamborghinni have done it but it's a bit more random and hard to follow IMO.

Ferrari have been doing it in the same way all the way back to the 348 Competitzione and 328 before, sadly the 355 was missed out for the special treatment!

The question is will the Huracan Performante command that level of respect and be seen as an equal to the afore mentioned special Ferrari's.

I guess as we are ending the era of natural aspiration that may well give the Huracan Performante a leg up onto that, "last of platform". I believe even Lamborghini will be pushed down the Turbo route in the not so distant future?

There will be quicker and quicker cars of course in the future as design progresses but it will be a question of "how is the quickness transmitted to the driver, with or without connection and emotion"

Only time will tell I guess.

Faster is always better. Looks like the HP will win there in a straight line and / or on the twisties. And it looks like the new HP will come with a big rearwing and pretty up its hideous backend. Which is good.

Difficult question to answer as the Speciale is epic and is the last N/a V8 Ferrari which gives it the edge as well as carrying the prancing horse logo.

The Performante will be faster without doubt but the handling will be subjective with 4 WD versus RWD.
In the wet in spirited normal road driving I like the 4 wd security but on a track a RWD car wins hands down for FUN.

Lamborghini specials do not have the same kudos as Ferrari but if it were to be the last N/a V10 that would help its cause.

Lamborghini Bristol have apparently sold their first year allocation of 9

Agreed yes it will be faster and that's the question here,is fast when cars are as fast as they are now the be all and end all?

As you say Rambo if it is the last NA V10 then that could certainly help it become more broad-spread in its appeal.I think just being NA and pumping out around 640 should also help its cause.

As you say as far as I am aware they are oversubscribed by a good way so its not an endless supply situation!!!

If Bristol have 9 for year one that's not exactly a lot of cars with the amount of Lambo dealers about!
