Considering a brand new 488

What is a typical lead time from order to delivery (I could manage 3 to 4 months but last year I was told it was over a year - which is a big no no)

what's a sensible spec ...

I assume they might be a few coupes 'coming back' where owners are upgrading to spiders or dealer demos that now need selling....there are few used ones for sale 'at list' - any one recently sold one, and willing to share what they achieved versus list price.

Cheers

I was told 2 years on a spider but coupe will be less but I don't know what the split of production is between coupe and spider.
The lack of supply is bolstering prices but for anything but delivery mileage cars its under list in reality now according to my local dealer

488 is a really good car. If you're after a GTB, the wait is less but still around 12 months at a guess. I have had an order in for a spider since late last year and I should get an allocation in time for next summer. Spider coming on stream more will limit GTB slots a bit I would think, but then more late used cars will become available as people change from early coupes, plus demand for new GTBs will reduce.

Must haves are a matter of opinion but my priority would be;

Colour - if you're worried about resale quickly, go red, black, grey or white. I chose Blu Corsa for the spider which just looks beautiful but is £8k
Forged wheels - the standard ones look better than usual in photographs but in real life the forged wheel seems worth it and again, should help resale
Carbon steering wheel + LEDs - a must have for me in a Ferrari, all the more so in a 488 because the engine spools so quickly
Front carbon looks great but is expensive - I didn't select it because I spent money personalising the look elsewhere, but it's an easy way to add something interesting to a more standard spec
Carbon Race seats - the standard seats are really good but sit higher. I'm long in the body and need the race seats to give me headroom. I think they're more comfortable, and obviously much lighter too

Other stuff like caliper colour, shields are important too. Other than that, not many mistakes to be made and things like CarPlay are to your personal preference.

Good luck!

Thanks for the replies

Used car the only option then .....

Don't want to take delivery until march ....so no point looking yet - unless I can bag an demo or planned PX

All colours looks great - but preference would be grey, black or red

Didn't like the 488 at launch, but grew on me after originally looking at 458 Speciales. (Which still seem overpriced).
GTB arriving in May;

Not a typical spec I'm guessing...

Are 488 spiders still rare ? I don't see many for sale, usually one or two filter out.

Seems Spider is 2 years wait from most dealers, coupe a little less, maybe 12 months. Worth calling around.

Sensible spec, well is there one in a Ferrari? Red will always sell, and any of black, grey , blue will also work for most. Some of the paint options can make your eyes water, as can adding carbon. Must have these days are shields, led lights on wheel, parking sensors. Audio upgrades rarely have much impact on resale, CarPlay not really useful as 488 screen tiny. Some may need a lifter if they are using car parks a lot for example. Seats depend on the individual, some like the race seats but others prefer versatility of the full electric. Neither seems to hurt resale, more personal choice. As for pricing, most are still going for list as there are so very few on the market. I would call around a nd try and get a slot so you can build your own. That experience is worth it .
