If you haven't got some already you should buy skid plates! It saved my F355 front bumper the other day!

Are they visible and do you have to drill the bumper to fit them?

I have a brand new set for an F430 if anyone wants them.

I'll knock £17 off of the Hill price.

No they are not really visible, I had them fitted I think you might have to make a couple of small holes

I when the skid plates arrived from Hills the package contained some fairly chunky fixing bolts. I decided to use double sided tape (as others have suggested) rather than drilling through the bodywork. The skid plates are sacrificial in my opinion. If you rip them off on a low speed hump and they're fixed to the bodywork with those 8 bolts you're going to tear a massive hole in the underside of your car. The other benefit is that I didn't need to remove the front bumper to drill the 8 holes.

Not sure how mine were fitted, but that's definitely a valid point.

Hmm. I tried the strongest double sided tape I could find - didn't last long. I think the only reliable way to affix them is with the supplied bolts. Not much use if they come off on the first bump and the cars takes the hit of the second.

My 2p....

Yes they can be seen (just) when fitted, I opted for the black polythene as their less noticeable.

They reduce the already low clearance by appx 8mm, the thickness of the plate.

They come with M8 CSK screws so some 8.5mm holes require drilling in the bumper (unless taped on as said here) the bumper does not require removal to fit the screws.

I suspect if you were going to lose the bumper due to the screws being fitted then it will be toast anyway.

Yes they are a sacrificial part IMO.

Am I happy with mine, Yes.

Chris.

Yeah I have the black ones fitted, go with the black ones as they are less noticable, if you have Grigio titanio colour car, I would consider the silver ones probably?
