F430 red slow down warning light

As title, I have had this light come on a few times and unable to change gear on the F1 system. All corrects its self after a few minutes
with the engine off. Was just requesting info. Is it due to high exhaust temps and would it be worth changing the thermocouples ? I don't push the car hard and this happens more when in slow traffic.

Had you recently washed the car? Or had you been driving in heavy rain?
I had the slow down light on after driving in heavy rain, although I did not have any problem changing gear.
Take it to someone with a SD3 machine and they will be able to tell you more.
Mine was the right hand catalyst ecu reporting a fault, so I resealed it with silicone and haven't had an issue since.

Without wanting to worry you this is a common sign of an actuator fault / leak. Mine had it and cost almost £7k to fix.
wow that is a worry what did you get for your 7k ? Did you take the car to main dealer or independent. I will check my FI fluid level !Edited by petrolpat on Monday 11th July 19:54
Could be a number of things of course but for me it was the F1 pump motor going. Common problem with early 430s as the same pump that pressurised the gearbox on the 360 was carried through to the 430 and now does the gearbox and e-diff. Was upgraded in 2007 I think. You can find an updated version on eBay for around £200 and it's no more than an hour to do yourself. Hope you sort it.

Do you need to replace the entire F1 pump and bleed the hydraulic system (requires an SD3 computer I believe), or can you just swap the pump motor?red_duke said:

Just swap the motor. You can leave the actual pump in place and thus don't need to disturb the hydraulics. There is a good video on YouTube by Juri, think it's for a 360 but the early 430s are the same. Juri also supplies updated pumps. FrankAbagnale said:

Yup - my symptoms exactly. If you don't want the uprated pump you can buy the Alfa Selespeed pump off eBay - cheaper and exactly the same as the original part. Also check that the pump relay (behind the passenger seat) is at least 50amp (the early ones were 30amp and would eventually 'weld') and same for the fuse.I was told that it shouldn't take longer than 10 seconds to prime once you turn the key in the ignition (whirring noise) and if it is longer then it needs looking at.

Thats it. That one includes the pump - easy enough to remove as you want to keep the original one in place and so not have to bleed the hydraulics. When you separate them take care with the gasket and the coupling that engages the motor and pump shafts.
