I have a Giallo Modena (Yellow) Spider and im wondering if I should fit a Challenge grill? Being a black grill I think it does look really good against the yellow, and sometimes you can see through them to see the Capristo Exhaust/engine components ect, and it helps with heat dissipation too which is a bonus.

any thoughts?

and if i decide to get one should i get it from Supertweaks or Eurospares? or anybody know of a better place to get one?

Maybe we should start a poll to see who prefers Challenge Grill or just as Standard?

The black of the Challenge grille provides a good contrast for both yellow & red cars - don't know who do them - Prosport used to have a replica

Of course, just a matter of personal preference. But since you asked... If it were me, I wouldn't. The F355 is such a beautiful shape and every curve matters. To my eye, the Challenge grille just distracts from the shape of the rear. Plus it's not original, and I think owners of special vehicles owe it a bit to their successors to keep them as close to how they left the showroom as possible.

But heck, that's just my view. It's a free country, and it's your car, so you should do with it whatever (within the law) gives you the most pleasure. But keep the old panel in case the next owner shares my view...

It was one of the first things I wanted to do with my previous red F355.
I think they look a bit unresolved without one and would look especially good with a yellow car.

Since I have a different opinion, as I understand PH forums, I should now insult you, question your expertise, and suggest the OP framed the question all wrong. But it's late and your logic sounds perfectly reasonable to me, so I'm just going to agree to differ. Which makes for a bit of a dull thread. Sorry about that.

No, no, no... I have to brow-beat you into changing your opinion to agree with mine by arguing how wrong your opinion is. I do that by putting up all sorts of bluff, bluster and perhaps even throw in the odd unrelated arguments about climate change and other stuff. None of this civility lark. Jeeze, what's this place coming to! (but they do look better with one) biggrin

Rats, now you've done it. Don't I have to say something that makes me sound more important than you now? Ideally mixed with a hint of racism, sexism or even Facism? I'm pretty sure the rules require quite a lot of obliterated swear words too. I'm just not sure I can be bothered, really. Probably easier to just agree.

I'll order my Challenge grill tomorrow. Just makes the car look more resolved I reckon.

I think as long as you retain the original grill, do it. My local garage were preparing a 355 for Classiche status recently and it made me think about all of the original grills that were left lying around at Verdi's when it closed, never to be reunited with their cars.

Of course I will be keeping original challenge grill incase I don't like it, or if the next person to buy wants it all original, I'm keeping all the original bits that I replace.

For some reason I never liked the challenge grill on the 360 ??

I have a yellow 430 Spider and have to agree that the black would offset the overall colour nicely. Can the CG be retrofitted to a 430 because I can't see how looking at the back of the car!

You need to buy a different bumper or cut the top off the old bumper.

Don't even go there!

On the 430 the ass end looks nice without CG anyway.

It could end up a disaster, keep it original

I always thought the challenge grill was my preference. Until I bought one without and decided to keep it original. I've thought about changing it once or twice since but I'm not convinced anymore, so it's off the radar these days. Agree with others about keeping original parts though. I keep the original of anything I change (except consumables of course) just incase that day comes when I part with it. If ever.

I've got black (graphite) alloys on my (red) 355. It think it really suits the car, but others will disagree!

Should I change my CS grill to a standard 360? I think I will repaint that silly stripe too
