Looking to change my 2012 California to a 2013 or 2014 458 Spider.
Any must have options on the 458 and anyone done this and regretted it ?
Many thanks for any advice
And yes I have looked at a McLaren 650s spider it's just not for me at this time maybe in the future.
650s is natural upgrade from 458 but expect the price differential to reverse in a few years with 458 coming down and 650 going up in relation to each other.Any must have options on the 458 and anyone done this and regretted it ?

With regards 458 you certainly need race seats, carbon interior, sat nav and LEDs on steering wheel, Upgraded wheels, wing shields.

I've done it, you won't regret it
for the 458 - race seats are lovely, shields, upgraded wheels, I went for lots of carbon inside and the rear panel. sat nav is useless
Agree on the above but try the race seats as they are not to everybody's taste. Although they tend to fare much better come resale time. Probably because they look 1000 better than all the others. for the 458 - race seats are lovely, shields, upgraded wheels, I went for lots of carbon inside and the rear panel. sat nav is useless
Satnav is beyond useless but people will want it. And does bring Bluetooth so you can stream music because the radio is so goddam idiotically complicated to operate that you will abandon after 10minutes of trying to find an FM preset. Don't get me started on DAB ones.. It's beyond comprehension.
Updated wheels a must.
Visibility is very poor on parking so sensors are not wasted IMHO if you use it around town.
Wheel with led essential and the carbon in the cabin really does make a difference. Lift not a must, my Speciale rarely needs it. It's remarkably better in ground clearance than my former GT3.
Avoid harnesses at all costs. Only worth coping with them on a Speciale.
That's about it I guess :-) good luck with the search
I spent about 8 months trying to buy a 458. I started out with a minimum spec of carbon seats, wing shields and carbon steering wheel with LEDS. I ultimately bought a rosso corsa car with the following, to which I have ascribed a desirability score (in my opinion anyway):
1. Carbon seats 9/10 in desirability
2. wing shields 10/10
3. carbon steering wheel/leds 10/10
4. carbon centre bridge 5/10
5. carbon strip in fascia 5/10
6. yellow rev counter 8/10
7. red stripe in seats 5/10
8. red calipers 8/10
9. JBL upgrade stereo 8/10 (controversial, but I like it)
10. ipod connection 8/10
11. nav 8/10
12. 20' gunmetal forged alloys 8/10
13. Carbon scuff plates 0/10
14. other stuff I can't remember 0/10
So I actually bought what I wanted if I had ordered new. I don't think the front lifter is worth looking for and I haven't missed it so far. On trips with GT3's, Murci's, Exiges and a CGT among others the 458 seemed best able to deal with humps.

I don't even know why wing shields are an option (no offence to anyone who hasn't got them)
None taken Actually I wouldn't have ordered shields on my 599 from new. It's black with red brake callipers and red inserts on black Daytona seats. One look and I was sold. In my weird OCD kind of way I felt like the yellow shields would have clashed with the red. It's sad...but I'm happy!

Haven't found a way to stream bluetooth audio and dealer told me it doesn't do it, be grateful for any advice!
thanks
I have been trying to do this also and, while the unit has the capability to do it, this hasn't been enabled (the so called "manual" is as informative as an estate agent's flyer on some shoe box "investment"). thanks
I think the Speciale has an upgraded/newer one which does in fact allow streaming, however.
