Budget for a f430
Discussion
My neighbour has traded in his 15000 miles 3 owners manual car for less than £70000. The dealer was very upfront with him and said that they will sell it on for £80000 with an approved warranty. It is my understanding that F1 gearbox examples are worth slightly less at the moment, so you should be able to get something very nice with either transmission for your budget.

£70k for a low mileage manual? Wow someone got a bargain!
He traded it in for that, and he did ring around a few dealers asking for their best price for a cash purchase, not a sale or return deal and that was best he got. There does seem to be a lot of hype of what people say they have been offered for their cars but he didn't get anywhere near these 'unsolicited' or 'out the blue' offers that apparently occur. It was a very nice car, which he had owned it for years, but it was out of warranty and due a service. He wanted a 488 but the waiting list was too long, so he has gone for the 458 instead.

your "neighbour" getting ripped off doesn't set the bench mark for the 430 market.Lofty999 said:

probably not, the cheapest red car on ph is £89k.. plus you need to view a few and potentially get inspections done as a lot of cars have interesting historyNano2nd said:

I'd have to agree with Nano2nd there. At a main dealer that's got to be a £90k car even with an F1 box. For an equivalent manual car you're surely looking to add another £20k. And they're selling for that, no question. I looked at F430s last summer; they were pretty scruffy examples in the £75-80k bracket. Drclarke said:

Lol this px story again ! Please tell us all which dealer bought the car so when they do market it at £80k (as I'm sure they will because dealers are soooo truthful when talking to customers about trade-in's) then we can all fight to buy it.
Or PM me the dealer name so I can buy it myself without any competition... thanks !

I would also add that if your neighbour had truly wanted to gauge where the market is for his car, he could have taken 5mins to advertise it on PH or autotrader... advertise it at £70k (£4k more than the dealer paid you say and much less than my mate got PX for his 25k mile LHD F1 f430) and see what kind of response he would have gotten.... Interesting reading.... Was thinking about upgrading my Rosso Corsa Tan 2002 360 F1 with almost full ferrari service history (Graypaul servicing including last month on the dot last 5 years) 10%clutch wear, cambelts next year - was offered £55000 as a direct buy..... But sure it's worth a lot more according to Voiceys data...... It actually put me off trading up and I just want to keep driving it now.......... I suspect the Private Ad is the right way to start to gauge national interest.........

I got £20k more than that trade in for my 430 against a 458...£70k for a 15000 mile manual is almost theft.....that's a £110-120k car in today's market (which is mental I know)...

pop up a wanted add....and see if what real world response you get from owners wising to sell (you might get close to one at £75k)Appears discussing anything but "advertised" prices is taboo here
some of the cars are now circa 10 years old, so two cars that have similar mile/ history could require a huge difference when it come "prep" costs...a bargain therefore might not be once you corrected the paint, touch-in a panel or two, popped some tyres on, addressed the service that's due, changed the brakes, sort out the manifold issue etc
Is £70k the true market trade value ?????
Why would anyone come on here and post that was the price if not true.
I think dealers will always try to be stealers and spot an opportunity but not £30k behind.
Also think the hype means they will also try to advertise over the top in the hope that some idiot comes along and negotiates and pays £10k less thinking they have got a bargain and the dealers are still laughing all the way to the bank.
Think there is a lot of hot air in some of these prices at the moment and you don't want to be the one paying top dollar when the market corrects

there might well be - but the cheapest manual 430 is 100k - and that has a story IIRC , and the next is a private sale at 115k......then Dick Lovetts at 120.Think there is a lot of hot air in some of these prices at the moment and you don't want to be the one paying top dollar when the market corrects
you might get a bottom end F1 for @ 75k though

No bites though!!!
like i said i very much doubt you'll get a good car in red for that money, dropping the requirement for red might help and it depends how "good" you want it. I was in a similar position 2 years ago, it looked like i could get a "good" red 360 spider for about £45k, however when i started looking and viewing cars it turned out my definition of "good" was closer to £60k - i.e. RHD, decent paintwork, no gaps in the service history, non weird interior colours, folder full of receipts etc etc hence i bought a 430 as back then £65-75k was bottom 430 money, regardless of gearbox type.Gassing Station | Ferrari V8 | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
