I bought my F40 in 2011 from a very well known indie dealer in the Midlands. Got the car home and noticed the tool kit was missing. Called the dealer and was given a load of cobblers about the car not having one but I had cached the webpage and told them I want the tool kit which was clearly part of the advertised package. They said fine but didn't sound convincing.
Worse, the car made my garage and adjacent areas stink of fuel. I was told by the dealer F40s let off vapour from their tanks. Since it was my first F40, and the internet confirmed F40s do vent, I accepted it, but the smell was almost over-powering.
In the meantime I decided to call around for an F40 toolkit. After countless wasted calls, a bright spark suggested I call Jeff Fosker. The bright spark said if anyone could source one, Jeff could. I called Jeff and he was extremely polite but stressed finding an F40 toolkit would be very hard, and expensive. I wasn't surprised.
And then asked him about the smell of fuel from F40s. He said they vent but the smell is slight. I said you could smell my car half way across the house, through doors. He didn't hesitate, his next words were very clear...."don't drive the car, the tanks sound like their not fitted properly and given the location of the tanks next to red-hot turbos, you're driving a potential bomb".
He couldn't fit new tanks there and then but DK had excellent US-made ATL tanks, so they fitted them (beautifully). The tanks they pulled out were not just ill-fitting, they were st too. UK made rubbish (note not all F40 tanks are the same so "new tanks supplied" means jack). The original dealer coughed up for the ATL tanks. And strangely the missing toolkit turned up too. Surprise, surprise.
Without Jeff's knowledge and time, and his unequivocal immediate warning, goodness knows what would have happened. Foskers is a class act.

Have to agree with this - I must have talked to every Ferrari sales specialist in the country before I bought my spider and Ed was out and out the most transparent and helpful guy I came across - wouldn't hesitate to transact with him Gassing Station | Ferrari V8 | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
