Hi, looking for some advice

I have a 458 with the optional carbon fibre bit between the rear lights

Personally I don't like it, sticking on a piece of carbon fibre on top of plastic purely for visuals defeats the whole point of carbon fibre in my opinion

Does anyone know how easy or hard it is to remove it?

Thanks

Steve

Can't rally help.
However this is one for sale on eBay for £1800 and in the photo There appears to be fixing holes so maybee it's not just stuck on.

Personally I think it looks good and shows of the prancing horse.

I'd happily come and collect it from you if you don't need it smile

Wow!!

I wouldn't buy one without it.
Completes the look of the 458 beautifully.

Im sure anybody with the same colour car would jump at the chance of a swap.

Nothing to swap, underneath is the bumper

Its a pointless add on

Did you manage to remove it ?

Guess you just need another prancing horse to stick on .

A cursory Google search seems to suggest that you need a specific "half cut" bumper to accommodate the carbon piece on the 458 - as is the case with Challenge grill on the F430, and in contrast to the 360 - making upgrading to the carbon piece financially impractical for most (as you'd have to source the right bumper to go with it).

Is this not correct then?

There's no cut out, it's stuck on top of a standard bumper which is kinda why I hate it

I'm sure the challenge grille was good for heat dissipation on the CS

This thing only adds weight and lines Ferraris pockets

It may look ok on a contrasting colour car but on a black one its just pointless

Errr.... the swap would be the whole bumper including the carbon piece hence me saying someone with the same colour car would jump at a swap.

Stuck on the top of the standard bumper sortof implies some kind of wrap? confused

FerrariLife.com and co seem to talk about it in the same vein as the F430 one, where you needed a special rear bumper that was split in the middle, complaining about retrofit costs, etc.

eBay backs this up - with this carbon-companion bumper piece. The stock one is (unless I'm going mad) a one piece that looks like this.

Any chance of getting a photo of it up?

Tosh stuck on...this is the back of one I owned, it isn't just the middle bit it underlines the whole length of the bumper to under the lights...not an expert on these things but it certainly isn't 'stuck on' over the top of the existing bumper and its no wrap. Maybe yours was done by someone wanting the effect of the genuine factory one by using a wrap or something, but the factory fitted version is clearly neither
And I for one do indeed think it makes the back of the car, not keen on the body coloured one at all
pic of a prv one I had for comparision, give me the carbon rear any day

OK got it, not stuck on by looks of it, thanks for info, as it appears to be factory original I'll stick with it
