458 Speciale floor mats
Discussion
Just received an excellent set of floor mats from autostyle.co.uk in Milton Keynes for a RHD 458 Speciale. They now have the correct templates and if anything, they are better than the original £768 Ferrari mats but were under £80 delivered. They have the correct mounting fittings and will also do the correct 458 Speciale logo on each side.
I hope this will be of help to some others.
Choose from the "premier" range and ask for Des Henderson.

I supplied them with the templates from my Speciale when I had a set made last year. Did you also get the passenger bulkhead piece as well?
I arranged the fitting eyelets to line up with the floor fixings so you can use them with suitable washers and spacers to secure them.
If you want to fit the bulkhead piece then glue that to suitable shaped piece of thin aluminium plate and secure that over the existing panel using the existing fixings.

Great tip. I just called and spoke with Des - ordered them over the phone for my car.
I don't recall seeing any bindings or clips on the floor of my car, just bare metal. Do all cars have these bindings / clips as I've ordered the mats just now but the chap said it would be fine to amend the order if there was an issue.
Thanks again for the tip

Mine had the Ferrari mats as a factory option so it has two studs at the rear of each foot well. I guess that if your car was ordered without the mats, then you will have to somehow obtain and affix studs to the aluminium floor. You really do need to have the mats fixed in place.

The templates that Autostyle have will have matching fittings for the studs on each mat. They might well be able to supply the floor studs and you can affix them to match the mats rather than the other way round as was my order.

Thanks F17 GTB, that's really useful to see. I've ordered something similar with a yellow border and the heel pad too.
Do you know where I could get the fittings for the floor mats? Des is making these with the attachment so I'll need something on the floor to clip them to. Des says he can't source these unfortunately.
Thanks again.

You could try scuderiacarparts.com. I have had a look at the parts diagram online of both the Italia and Speciale but cannot make out the mat fixing stud. A google search shows a huge number of different methods of attachment. Would Des at Autostyle know which other car manufacturers use the same female socket on their mats? They obviously have a stock of the correct mat socket so I am sure other cars use the same. Good luck.
Thanks guys. I checked out the parts diagram for the Italia & Speciale too and called HR Owen who also had no idea if a part existed despite trying to look with me. Tried with Scuderia but have not had a reply from them yet. Its no big deal. I should have just ordered them without the perforation in the carpets!
They arrived today and I'm pleased with them. Thanks very much for the heads up and your advice!

If you use the method I used in having plan rings put in the carpets instead of the securing clips you can then use the fixings that secure the Speciale metal floor plates to secure the carpets. I used black plastic washers (actually trim/carpet securing fixings I had lying around)and countersunk head fixings to get it really neat.
Personally I would not want to drill new holes in the metal floor plates.
I added carpets as I prefer them but for eventual resale I want to be able to remove the carpets with no holes or damage to the metal floor plates.

Hmmm... Think mine has the original set in the boot. Haven't had time to check yet as barely driven it since taking delivery with travelling and s
t weather gettin in the way.
But yes also think they look out of place in a speciale but possibly on a road trip could be useful to protect metal floor especially if doing mountain passes or places where you likely to get back in the car with grit...
On that subject still waiting for my slot to get the car fully PPFd as really cannot understand how people still leave them exposed. The PPF on my GT3 saved the paint on so many occasions during my coubtryside and mountain drives... Doesn't apply for Kings Road cruisers I guess..:
