Has anyone put a Capristo Stage 1 Race Silencer on a F430?

I'm looking to change the rear section of the exhaust on my F430, with a Capristo Stage 1 Race Silencer. This change should give a more high pitched sound than the current standard silencer.

Just wanted to know if anyone else had made this change to their F430 and if they were happy with the outcome - Also, advantages / disadvantages?

I've spoken with Scuderia Car Parts in Egham and they seem a decent bunch.... So plan to go there for supply and fit..

Any feedback on experience of this would be much appreciated.

I have a race system on my car and to be honest it is not that much different to the valves been open all the time. I was very disappointed with it and told scud systems this, they said it would get louder. It did not, what it did do is crack on a trip to italy last year causing much agro.

My main gripe with the 430 was the sound, not the musical high pitched sound of a 355/360 and at worst depending on the gear a bit of a boomy 'fart sound'. I explored this option as a hope of getting closer to the ideal Ferrari noise but two very experienced technicians advised me that due to the design of the 430's engine I would never be able to get the noise I wanted and the Capristo does nothing to change the overall character of the exhaust, the only real advantage is in weight saving.

As above, I was told to keep my money as the Capristo is not cheap. If you are after more noise you can simply wire open the valve which will give you a very similar effect to the Capristo.

Thanks cgt2 - I don't dislike the sound of my F430 but the same as you, if I'm honest, I do prefer (as you so rightly put it), the musical high pitched sound of a 355/360, I was hoping that the Capristo would help achieve this but it seems not.

There are plenty of options for F430 to get higher F1 pitch. This is an S-line x-pipe. Have considered a version for my 16M but have currently stuck with the full Capristo to keep the benefit of remotely controlled valves.

Coming from 355 (which I still think is the best sounding F ever), I changed the system on my 430's immediately as I hated the stock sound to the point it made me want to sell the car!

I haven't seen the option mentioned above in terms of getting better pitch, but having had a few 355's and done quite a few miles in my X-Ost fitted 355 I felt the 430 was a let down in comparison (despite being a better car overall). I do have very fond memories of the 355 even though the steering was too light and the seats very uncomfortable on a long journey, but the noise was exceptional and that made up for a lot of other things. I compare the sound of every car I've had since with that as a reference point. I never got that kind of sonic buzz from the 430, though my Tubi'd straight pipe 550 was right up there (in a very different way to the 355, more growly). It is a very subjective thing.

If you can obtain a similar sound to a 355 from a 430 then that would be a great result. I tried valves open and closed and it wasn't good in either mode for me.

You're absolutely right - My brother had two F355 GTS's, which I also used to drive and for me, the F355 is the V8 king of sound!! (Reg No: S141 KJB was one, don't know if anyone on here has it now?)

The F430 however, was the right car at the time, on so many other levels, which is why I bought it.... If only it had the F355 sound, it would be the perfect car!

X-Pipe design seems to work stunningly with V8's. Have one on a 928 and it transforms not just sounds but extra whoosh. All that sucking out gasses works beautifully

Hi Russell, thanks for sharing this, the car sounds great in the video - I'm just getting a bit confused, some people are saying an F430 sound can be enhanced, some are saying it can't.

The video looks like it was shot in the USA, as anyone here in the UK done the same upgrade and achieved the same result?

That sounds just like an F1 car, which would be fantastic on one of those rare track days with no noise limits! Unfortunately, in the real world, it is unusable on virtually any track day apart from the very rare open pipe days and far too antisocial to be used (I think) in SE England. I have actually gone the other way and bought a remote control for the valves to enable me to keep them shut, It irritates me when I am gently passing an old lady and suddenly the valves open up and make me look like a boy racer, when I am not actually going that fast - I have just exceeded 4,000 rpm. When I feel like playing, I will be able to keep the valves open, which should be fun. I haven't yet fitted it to the car, but am looking forward to trying it.

When they supplied a Tubi for my 348 they used QV for fitting, not sure if that's the current arrangement but QV are top draw and trusted.

Don't know what you gents had fitted but the Capristo changed my 430 Spider sound a lot. Pricey but worth it.They set up Macari's to fit mine.
No exhaust on any car though sounds like a 355. Probably reflected in the outrageous values we're seeing now for Ferraris prettiest, sexiest and best sounding production car IMO.
