Hi,

The original Pirelli P-Zeros on my 458 are touching 3mm on the back so am looking to change them. The fronts have over 5-6mm still. Not driving the car at the moment so not in any mad rush to do it, for what that's worth.

Was debating about a wholesale change to something else - have got Michelin Pilot Super Sports on another car of mine and they've been excellent, and from what I've been led to believe they are OE on Speciale?

Curious as to what others would do.. I don't really like the idea of just wasting money by chucking the fronts away (don't have a spare set of winter wheels to use them on), but at the same time buying new Pirelli P-Zeros for the rear if they are no longer considered to be the best tech available doesn't seem right either?

Thoughts?

True, those are the ones on the Speciale. But good luck using them in the rain...

I'd stick with the ones you have even though they're quite soft. I fitted some Dunlop SP Sportmaxx to a Calfornia once and they weren't bad actually.

Cheers. Are the MPSS really that bad in the rain? They've been excellent on an albeit lower powered FWD car.

I have had no issues on the few occasions my car has seen rain, that said its all in the head of the driver.
If you find MPSS OK on your other cars I would take your own experience over anyone else.

Yeah, I had thought that too *shrug*

So - anyone willing to stand up for Pirelli P-Zeros? Are they comparable to MPSS?

No, they are not. I have MPSS on mine and splashing around Wales over Christmas (rather than languishing under a cover a nice chap sold me wink )they were fine - I've not compared them to anything else but they didn't seem any worse than the PZeros I had on my 355.

You would be I think very hard put to find someone who rates the pzeros over the supersports in any way.

the 458 had OEM fitment of supersports in the 2012 and later cars I thought anyway and they are K spec supersports available in the right sizes. Speciale has cup2s as standard fit.

Now I'm totally confused.. so it was Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 on the Speciale, not Michelin Pilot Super Sport?

Are the latter not OE for any models? I note there are K1 variants of the MPSS so qualified in some form by Ferrari.

Apologies, these are the ones I meant. Similar sounding name but different tyre obviously. I confirm that these are the ones that are useless in the wet!

Just to followup, can anyone advise which ones they currently have on their car? I'm seeing a few variants that are K1 (Ferrari) spec. Rears seem to be available in 101Y or 105Y (XL) load ratings, fronts in 88Y and 92Y (XL)...

(I assume you meant 35 instead of 55 on the rear?)
