F430F1 Spider....time to sell.
Discussion
Have decided to sell my F430F1 spider rather than put it away for the winter, and was wondering if any of you have found selling privately easy, or is it better to contact one of the many trade ads?
I don't really want to entertain tyre kickers and have never sold a car of this value privately before (it was bad enough when I sold the Boxster)
Thanks
David

I have sold two 430's through pistonheads and both went to the first person to view the car.
First one went to a very nice private individual and the second one went to a main dealer who flew up to see it and made a surprisingly competitive offer to take it there and then (could have got more but went for an easy sell).
There were a couple of emails which I didn't respond to as they seemed time wasters and a phone call or two with dreamers but all in all I was pleasantly surprised both times.

OK, thanks that's encouraging.
I have contacted a couple of dealers and one has come straight back with an offer without seeing it, like you I think I'd rather go for the easy seel.
Thanks for the advice,
David

I would say you're in a good position to sell privately, the usual caveats notwithstanding. 430s have been steadily appreciating in value, everyone ought to be well aware of that by now, so as long as it's a decent spec then I think you pretty much hold all the cards.
edit: Sight unseen bidding from a dealer is not that surprising in todays market.

OK - taken your advice and placed an Ad on Pistonheads, now enjoying the phone calls and e-mails!!
Thanks David

Exact same experience, and now sold. Thanks for the advice.

Glad it went so smoothly for you and hopefully you got a price you were happy with.
Now for the sellers regret to set in!!

Thanks. The ownership experience was never about money for me, I didn't really think about market values rising and falling.
I'll probably not buy another 'supercar' in the near future, but might change my wife's car and then look for a good 997 every-day car...
Then again...!!

Good that it went so quickly. Out of nosiness, did you sell to get out of the market (thinking values may not get much higher), or have you got your eyes on something else?
