I'm thinking of finally getting a Ferrari after years of putting it off and have narrowed it down to the F430 Spider but I'm not sure if it's going to fit in my garage. It's a standard 8 feet wide internal size with an 89 inch opening.
I'm thinking it will fit in relatively easily but I'm not sure im going to be able to open the door enough to get out once inside.
Does anyone here have one that they keep in a single garage. Thanks

I keep mine in a single garage but it is a larger than normal single. I tend to drive the car in part of the way and get it lined up properly - I then switch the engine off and roll the car in by hand. Could be an option if you have a flat drive?

I have on occasion been in a tight spot in my F430 spider, its not an issue getting in and out but I am slim build and 6ft, I use the sill to manuver out as I do all I can to protect my race seat bolster.
A tip would be to carpet the wall in your garage where the door opens, that way you can confidently open the door to the max.

I'd do anything if I were you to have a Ferrari, if that meant buying a £30 trailer winch and attaching it to the back of my garage and just leave the towing eye on the front of my F430, I would :-)

Thanks guys. I'm slim myself and relatively supple so can get out of the odd tricky situation. I have already caroetted the wall where I get out of the integrale, my concern was mainly whether the thickness of the door would prevent me from actually having enough room to squeeze out

If you do get a spider you could climb out with the roof down?

(ignore me, I'm a coupe owner).

Watch that 430 door. It has two stopping points. The first is too narrow for anyone to get out of and the second is super wide and has you banging walls and adjacent cars with your door. Stupid Italian design I guess - a bit like having to open the door and engaging the f1 system just to pop the bonnet/front storage.

You can get around that quite easily. I've done this mod quite a few times now.... http://aldousvoice.com/2014/05/11/ferrari-360-remo...

That's a new one on me, I always use the passenger side pull cord biggrin

As for the door opening points your quite right, I've noticed that I am always holding the door open between the 2 points, not that easy!!

You should ease off on using the pull cable - it was designed as an emergency release and has been known to break off with regular use. It is a PITA to replace...

Oh okay, I'd better be more thoughtful when the ignition is on, I don't to it all that often as I've found I don't have any battery draining issues between use hence the bonnet access, cheers!

That's not the best news I ever had...I use the pull cord every time.
What's the cost involved in having that remote control mod made?

There's about £10-15 worth of bits to buy and takes between 30 mins to an hour to fit. It's dead easy to do yourself...

Believe me, if I started to do it myself there would be £10-15 worth of bits to buy for the mod and £100-150 worth of bits to buy to repair the damage I caused to the car!!
I will need to have it done professionally, where in the UK are you based lol?

I'm in London. If I recall correctly, hasn't your car been up to Ed @ Christian Lewis? He's more than capable of sorting this for you.

It has, and will be heading back there for a new roof and some other jobs at some point soon... will add this one to the list!
