I have asked DVLA to release a number plate to auction and they have registered my interest, taken my contact details and said that they will be in touch when it will be released.

I was wondering if anybody knows what the waiting time for sending a number plate to auction is.

Also I have been told that certain number plate dealers have influence over DVLA to release a plate in the next auction - is there any truth in this?

Normally they just add it into the next auction.

Not sure about your later point. Possibly true...

I used Craig Priestley at National Numbers.

Agree with your statement about influence, not only releasing but bidding too.

Give him a call if you like 01642 363738, you can mention me if you like, he released and bid on plates for me.

Best regards

Send another request using a different email address - they will think there's more interest and bring it into an auction earlier - worked for me.

I asked for a plate in 2007 and it was included in the next auction - I won
i asked for another in 2008 and the same again.

I asked for one in July 2013 and got an email today which said it would be in the next auction. Things vary...

How do you know if your chosen plate has already been released or not and which DVLA email address did you use
