I left the California on a friends drive overnight. Came back this afternoon and some tw@t had thrown an egg or 2 over the bonnet and roof. I washed it off as soon as i noticed but with the hot weather it had baked on. Despite numerous washes the outline is still very visible.
Any ideas on what I should do now? Will a finisher be able to remove it or will it need a respray.
Thanks

Sorry for what has happened - you must be livid. You may find you can get it out yourself with a decent polish (something like dodo juice lime prime) and a bit of elbow grease but if not i am sure a detailer will be able to. Think of it as an excuse to get the car detailed!

Some people just don't respect other people's property frown

There's a lot of great products out there that would probably sort it out.
Personally, I'd get advice from:-

http://detailingworld.co.uk/

or there's a detailing forum on Facebook.

I've used Autofinesse Citrus Power - it's primarily for bug removal, but it's not nasty to paintwork.....

Good luck smile

Not just Ferraris that get egged. Years ago my cars were often targetted and not just on Hallowean night either!

More recently, my MG ZT had two eggs crushed under the lip of the boot lid where you lift it when opening. . I suppose the idea is to get the white and yolk on the fingers when opening it! Pathetic.

I mentioned this to my neighbour when we were sorting his clutch on his Vitesse Turbo. Both his Vitesses had been egged like that recently. The new BMW between us was untouched. I suspect we have ab anti-Brit car racist nut operating in the neighbourhood. ... rolleyes

There are some jealous bds out there. I'll be happy to help or offer some advice.

You will likely need the areas machine polished and to be honest, its a Ferrari, which means the paint won't be in very good condition anyway, so you might as well get the whole car detailed while you are at it. Thats not me or someone else trying to get more money out of you, but the areas that will be sorted out will stand out, especially if you have a black one.

The best course of action for your car and anyone else for that matter, is to have it detailed for a couple of days and then have a hard wearing sealant applied, such as Gtechniq crystal serum. It will at least give the paint a fighting chance, should it happen again.

If you wanted to give it a go yourself though, you're best off using trying a polish like this one

That will help things, but in all likelyhood, you'll need to polish them out with a machine.

Thanks guys - for the support and advice.
Its really frustrating. I suppose i could have understood it if it was parked on the road or in the middle of town but this was on a drive in a leafy affluent part of Surrey. Whats more galling is that it was probably pre meditated as someone must have noticed it earlier in the day then come back later with eggs - unless of course this is the kind of to55er who carries eggs around just in case. Its not even red its TDF blue. First time its happened to me - takes the edge off owning a nice car - i hope the feeling passes.

It may help to consider the miserable wretch responsible. Socialist probably, full of hate for everything and everyone, jealousy eating him 24 hours a day, dead end job, ugly wife (if she hasn't left him yet for being so bitter about everything), badly behaved kids.

Your mark will polish out of your beautiful car and the joy of ownership will return plus you get to drive an amazing car on a regular basis. He's got nothing to look forward to but the grave. Eventually.

There, feeling better? smile He isn't...

With it being eggs, it could well be down to kids getting up to mischief and assuming eggs cause a mess without realising the damage. It's a real pain for you and certainly unpleasant but if somebody wanted to 'vandalise' it, I'd say they might've tooled up with paint or a screwdriver. I had a fifteen kilo rock thrown on our Boxster a few years ago, damaging four different body panels, the roof and windscreen as it went over the car (driveway overnight) - now that's vandalism frown

Try not to let it get to you. AT the end of the day you're still the one owning and driving a beautiful car. F**k 'em!

Guy I knew couldn't take his 512TR anywhere without it being thoroughly gobbed on. Not at all pleasant.

He gave it up.

That's horrible, and a real shame. frown

Also +1 to the OP trying to put it behind them. With any luck it's the only time you'll have a problem like this to deal with.

I would suggest washing the area affected and using clay bar. I would be suprised if that doesnt work. Its very quick and will cost next to nothing to do.

Although Francis (paddy328) won't self promote, get him (Emerald Detailing) to come and do it for you, he's extremely good, check the Aston Forum if you need further references, he's done 2 of my cars and a good number of mates cars so is easy for me to recommend..

+1. Paddy did my car immediately before I had a full PPF paint shield on my 458 Spider. Was very happy with his work, felt it was good value vs other quotes I had, and also seems like a decent bloke who's just passionate about restoring nice cars. :-)

Try using a clay bar on the affected area, that usually gets rid of most things stuck to the paintwork.

Don't let it get to you, they are clearly some jealous f**ker who will never be happy with their life, you still own a Ferrari smile
