Quick question, I am looking to replace the tail pipes on my F430 as one has developed a rattle with the exhaust butterfly, and you can of course only replace the whole pipe but wanted to check here to see if anyone knows what the difference in the revisions are..

The latest part number is 231542(LH) and 231543(RH), but what is the difference between these and 216041 and 216041?? Was there a big change to fix something? as the first parts I quoted are nearly 5X the price of the others!!!

Thanks!

Common problem on the 355. Mate of mine fixed it years ago with a few dabs of solder. Its been fine ever since and possibly cheaper than a new pipe?

Are you sure its the butterfly?

Do you have a challenge grille? I modded my grille with some spacers and got rid of a great deal of rattling.

Also I read about a mod to the exhaust valves on Ferrarichat using some springs to apply a small amount of force to the exhaust valve to help it return to its original position. I have done this and will test over the weekend.

I had a rattle, more on tick over....the tailpipes have a outer and inner sleeve and when the spot weld breaks/cracks you can get a rattle, if you push your foot onto the tailpipe you will stop the noise.....that's if its the same problem as I had.

There are always used rear sections on eBay for around £150. Worth getting a couple and having them repaired so you can swap yours over, then keep a spare set.
