Hi PH,

I bought a '56 F430 Spider from a main Ferrari dealer last summer.

It's a great car with a very nice spec and so I don't want to trade it in as a PX as I know I will get a lot less than what it is worth - it still has over 1yr main dealer warranty remaining, carbon interior pack, CC brakes, scud alloys, etc - things which other brand main dealers really don't seem to take into consideration!

As such I was considering either trying to sell it privately - just not sure how easy this is to do as it still has finance outstanding on it(?) - or alternatively I thought I could sell it to an independent F-car dealer who would be able to make me a fair bid.

Does anyone know of a good way to find a few dealers/buyers I could run the car by to get a few bids from? I don't really want to do SOR, just a few independent traders that would make a fair bid.

You should ask the same question over on Clubscuderia.

However, I'd recommend having a chat to Tim, over at walkersports: http://www.walkersport.co.uk

You may struggle given how much of the industry is SOR but you could look at who is selling similar cars in the classified here

Then again maybe your inbox has been filled just from the mention here

I see, I will make a few calls tomorrow to those guys. Well I would put it on the classifieds, if I could figure out how to pay off finance easily, oh and avoid test pilots!!

Finance is easy - advertise car - sell car - get settlement figure from finance house - purchaser pays it off direct with balance to you - car sold

That does sound easy... Well let's see what bids the indies make, but maybe it's time to try my hand at the classifieds again. Not sold a car privately for about 7 years!

As mentioned, very few independents other than some of the very well established have the cashflow to buy outright. Main dealers of course do, but you will take a bigger knock.
