Watching Wheeler Dealers got me to thinking .... How easy would it be to convert a 360 F1 to manual?

I was going to ask why would you want to but that is for another thread.......

Not impossible or even too difficult as it is the same box.

I would say sourcing all the parts for reasonable money would be by far the biggest challenge.

Apart from the obvious there are ECU's etc. You could also sell the F1 kit on particularly the actuator and hydraulic control unit for good money.

I would say your best option would be to find someone that wants an F1 that has a manual car and swap bits.
My only concern would be the devaluation of both cars, so on that basis it maybe better to sell the car and buy a manual.

Possibly because they were awful until the 430, and then the double clutch made them worthless. manual a much better proposition.

The cars with the earliest variants of control units, or those driving around with unresolved underlying faults/poor clutch set ups are indeed, poor. The rest are perfectly fine....

I have to disagree and that's as an owner of a 360 F1 for three years. I wouldn't swap it for a manual.

If it was a days work or so it'd be worth doing it and keeping the parts to swap back then you could have both options

It's about a weeks work if you know what you are doing, and many thousands of pounds worth of parts.

This, plus there's a quite of bit of messing around with the electronics to get the car to run.

To be honest, it'd only be worthwhile if manuals were priced at £10k over the F1.

I suppose I better get the angle grinder out then. I'm now deeply saddened that my realisation of a lifelong dream is a piece of worthless junk weeping

About 4.5K in parts for the 360 IIRC.

A skilled, decent workshop doesn't need a week to pull this off IMO, it's a very straight forward exercise. If you know what you're doing it should be doable in a short weekend.

Ed's about as 'skilled and decent' as you get with these cars.
I know who I'd believe wink
