Scuderia purchase
Discussion
After a long time looking (8 months on and off) i finally pulled the trigger on a 430 Scuderia this week.
Initially i wanted to buy a RHD, and had totally ruled out even considering a LHD car until i drove one back to back with a RHD. Having never driven a LHD in this country, and only having had very limited experience driving a car with an F1 gearbox - i was really quite daunted by the prospect, but as soon as i got in the car i could not believe how good the visibility was, and after a good 30/40mins driving through all sorts of scenarios i was feeling really quite comfortable... I realise there are of course going to be some down sides, but with the limited mileage i expect to do (circa 4k p/a) i really could not justify the additional 60 - 80k +++ i would need for RHD.
Trying to find a good LHD is certainly much harder than RHD - having looked at over half a dozen cars from 'all over' (including bringing one in from Europe myself) i could not find a better car than the first one i had viewed... A Rosso Scuderia car with 22k on the clock @ Dick Lovett's. Apart from not having 'contrast stitching' the car is pretty much my perfect spec, and condition wise is pretty exceptional having been 'armourfended' from new, and with full history etc...
So anyway - here she is:
Now the long wait till i can pick it up! (DVLA registration)

Did you pick it up today? I was looking at Scuds and Lovetts at about 12.30 today. There was also a wonderful yellow Integrale in the carpark.
First time I have been to have a look (911 in for service down the road), and there is some serious metal there! That was with only seeing what's in the showroom, I then caught a glimpse of what was in the garage!!

Thanks for the comments.
It certainly is an impressive dealership to visit - they had five F40's in there yesterday (some in the workshop, some in the showroom) as well as dozens of other rare/incredible cars including a brown (very dark red) Speciale, which was interesting...
They've been great to deal with so far, and i will certainly be sending mine back there for servicing etc... even though they its a fair 'trek' from Bournemouth.

I only did the deal yesterday, and the car needs to be registered through the DVLA (being an import) so I've been told that it could be three or four (very long!) weeks. I've also instructed a few bits to be done to the car to make it perfect (or near perfect) so these will all be done in the next few weeks too...First time I have been to have a look (911 in for service down the road), and there is some serious metal there!
