I bought my 430 Spider in February and after 50 miles hit a pothole and destroyed a brand new front tyre. Wit the weather being as it has been, I have barely used the car since, but over the weekend took it out again and guess what?? This time the new front and a barely worn rear have bulges in them! Can't believe it - I haven't even used one tank of fuel yet, and have destroyed three new tyres. The latest damage was on a main road too, where the council clearly knew of the problem as when I stopped to investigate, there were orange paint marks on the verge and in the road to mark where the repair is to be carried out. Hopefully I can claim from Surrey County Council this time.

I am wondering if I should replace all my tyres with run-flats, as I have to buy two new tyres anyway. Are they likely to be more durable?

Ouch.... Run flats might affect ride and handling.

I know, but they are likely to be better than 4x4 wheels and tyres that I am beginning to think I should invest in!!

Are 430's prone to this kind of problem or have I just been unlucky? I didn't have a problem with the 575 or 360 I had before, but they were both on 18 inch wheels, rather than the 19's of the 430.

I damaged a front on my 430 also in Surrey, they are a nightmare for potholes. Mine was a challenge wheel and luckily I got it straightened. Where was your pothole?

The first was on the road from Edenbridge to Lingfield. The latest was on the Limpsfield Road between Woldingham and the top of Titsey Hill. You really don't expect to have that type of problem on a main road, do you? Luckily, I don't seem to have damaged my wheels so far
