Getting my 360 on Thursday - one final hurdle Insurance !
Discussion
Hi All
I'm very excited as I pick my dream up on Thursday !
I just need to arrange insurance. I initially (perhaps naively) had budgeted on just normal insurance companies but have since been advised that I should consider a specialist. I've had a couple of quotes but the price was close to £1600 which seems a bit excessive to me. Money supermarket was around half of that. I'm 38 with no points and full no claims bonus 14 years although insurance certificate says 9+.
Its obviously no deal breaker and I probably know the answer but what advice would people give ?
Thanks as always

Try A Plan Wilmslow and ask for Darren he has just sorted my policy including the Speciale for June. Most Private Clients policies should be fine.I had and am still having a bit of a nightmare with a well known one from Switzerland but i think my broker was just useless.
If its your pride and joy then its worth having good cover.

Have Admiral changed from paying out "market value" and applying limitations around repairs? When I queried it previously, the voice on the phone told me "market value" would be trade price, at best.
I moved from them based on the above, plus a few other bits of small print, and moved to Lockton's. Better claims cover based on what I have read albeit more expensive than the Admiral policy, which I haven't been back to check on, details wise.
I've also always had positive experiences with A-Plan.

As ever with insurance policies the devil is in the detail!! Make sure you check you are getting the cover you need. For me, an agreed value (for which you usually have to provide official valuation documentation) is very important as the spread of values can be wide on ferrari models eg 355 going from approx £45K-£90k!! Many of the cheaper policies are cheap for a reason!
Concur with Rocco1. Price not everything, terms and conditions are also important; like agreed value policies, choice of repairer (wouldn't want my car at a large insurer's approved garage network, lined up in a queue and parked outside in a yard), salvage retention if a total loss, breakdown recovery etc.
If the car is worth less than £75K your options are many. Once you get above that value things get a bit tricky as most of the specialist schemes require a tracker. At £200+ per year for the Ferrari Navtrak need to consider that as well in the costs. Admiral do not require it so makes it more appealing.
We have our 997.2 turbo and new Abarth with Admiral for £880 the pair.
However the Speciale is going with a specilist because of its high value and the fact it has a tracker fitted as standard and the first year activation included in the cost. That is around £1000. The choice is between Aviva through AON and RSA through Nowell and Richards. Virtually the same quotes (within £100) the only difference is the excess. The cheaper premium is 3000 the more expensive premium is 2300. Both are back to invoice values on the car. The AON is back to invoice for 2 years. The AON Aviva is their version of Aviva Distinct called AVIA prestige. Cheaper premiums but higher excess.
Interestingly was told by all the brokers that excess is normally a minimum of 1% of vehicle value. Always wondered where the figure came from.
Tried Locktons but expensive at 1600.
