I've also owned both and am currently in a F430 - I would say it depends on what you intend to use the car for. The F430 is about 20% better in every area but it really comes into its own on track. However, if you don't intend to see the track at all then a 360 will be sufficient to give you a thrill every time you take it out for a drive.

Not driven a 360 but briefly had a F430. I am now looking again.
So many factors to consider.
360 timing belt maintenance.
F430 F1 shift better, but 360 can be improved at a cost
360 starting to look cool instead of old
F430 possibly the better drive
360 headlights look wrong
360 sounds awesome

Well seeing as you asked 360 has risen slightly in last year by approx 10k, 430 has remained fairly steady hence your 20k v my 30k.
Both cars I think will hold value.
Whilst 360 does have belts it's not an engine out job like 355.
The 20 or 30k difference buys an awful lot of other car, I.e 360 and a c63 or M3 v8

360 in my opinion the better looking car, however in reality the better car is the 430. If I were going to drive it on just special occasions I'd go for a 360. It will give you that warm fuzzy feeling that owning a supercar does but if you want the quicker more accomplished car then go for the 430. I was surprised how good the early 360's were when I owned one!
From another angle if you just want to be admired and looked at then it's the 360 all the way, Jo public generally don't know the difference between a 430, 360 they're just both Ferrari's.

I think it is totally down to personal preference and the reasons you want the car. I wanted a later manual Ferrari without the matinetto switch on the steering wheel, so I bought a manual 360 Spider and love it. I personally prefer the styling to the 430 and I think the noise is fantastic.
I am not anti the F1 transmission, both my Maserati GranSports have it and particularly in the Coupé with sports mode engaged it is fantastic.
I don't do many track days these days but if I was going to I would probably use my Lotus 340R which I am sure would be more fun on track than either Ferrari.
Also Lanan I assume like me you would have the use of dedicated track cars if you wanted and of course a certain JF to help make the most of it if you wanted to play on track, so would be unlikely to to track the Ferrari?

Never been a great lover of track days and my racing days are pretty much finished. But never say never.I am not sitting next to Joey Foster, he would make me feel so inadequate

Don't discount the 360 AND a Maserati GranSport, the GranSport is sort of like an Italian 911 and they make a great pair and of course it has a version of the Ferrari V8 engine in the 430.
I am about 15 miles from Silverstone if you want to poke round my 360 and/or GranSport, either PM me on here or ask J for my number.
F430 F1 spider IMHO. Definitely worth the £20k extra as far more modern and better performance. Personally I prefer the looks of 2nd generation cars. Maybe my eyes need time to become accustomed to the newer shape especially after F355
If you prefer 360 my advice would be to go manual and coupe. The gap may have narrowed recently as there has been a greater upward trend on 360 than F430 but that's not to say it will continue so the gap may widen again after you have paid a premium on 360. Its all in the timing I'm told

We have a 360, considered by many to be a prettier car than the F430 and I'd agree. That said, I'd trade it for a F430 if it wasn't such a price jump as the newer interior, extra torque and better F1 system of the later car would be great.
360 manual , agree with earlier comments it has more rounded looks and to my minds eye echo,s of the 246 Dino, but hey both fab cars, for my money I bought a 360 spider, and for rainy wintry days a Boxster S for the same money as an F430 would have cost me!

Owned both. Ironically had the 430 first which may have impacted the way I saw the 360. I never particularly loved it. On a standard exhaust it sounded pretty crap. I would definitely say it needs a sports exhaust. Whereas 430 sounded fine on standard exhaust.
F1 on 360 was ok, but not amazing (My car was a 2003 so had the last of the software updates for the gearbox, expect the challenge stradale cars). 430 f1 was great.
It really comes down to personal taste & how much you want to spend. The 360 was a great car. I personally if I bought another one, would go for a manual & sports exhaust.
