Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me with a problem with my 355 roof. I'm now told that the roof ECU is faulty, has anyone any idea where I can get a replacement from and the associated costs ? So far the problem has escalated from a simple synchronisation of the seats post having them removed to be reconalised to a broken seat potentiometer to now a problem with the roof ECU !

Thoughts help and advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hmm. Rare to have an ecu problem. What's it doing/not doing?

Hi

Thanks for your response.

I agree with your comment, when I got my car back a year ago after the independent who re furbed the interior there was a problem with the passenger seat moving forwards. This had never beem a problem before, my car now has been with them for five weeks and they tell me they have rebuilt the seat potentiometer plus re calibrated things but still no joy. Now they tell me the ECU has failed but I don't understand why the roof will still not work if I use the over ride button if the ECU has failed ?

Not sure why your indy would bother rebuilding a seat potentiometer - they are less than £100 to replace! If the potentiometer is not working properly it would affect the roof operation. I would make sure the potentiometer is not the issue before going down the ECU replacement route

Do you get an audible warning from the dash when you press the roof button? Also, if you could ask them what error codes are stored and post them up here I may be able to help...

After much deliberation and my independent taking the car to a roof specialist this was their response.

"The potentiometers within the seats were broken, so the roof was unable to know where the seats were, resulting in no command for the roof to open or close.
Both front seats were removed and your potentiometers were rebuilt (as these are now unavailable to order new) and your ECU was recalibrated using a working ECU.
Elastics in the roof were also replaced."

This is all post 5 hours labour at 90 pounds and hour plus the fact the roof was working before the independent reconalized the interior.

Thoughts would be appreciated.

So did it need an ecu as well as two potentiometers? If the seat potentiometers were the cause of the fault the first guys should have picked that up straight away. If the seats were dismantled for a refurb, the control rod that passes through the centre of the potentiometer would have been removed to do so.
