Acceptable F1 clutch percentage when purchasing F430 ?
Discussion
For what it's worth when I was recently talking to a main dealer about buying a F430 that had 60% clutch wear they didn't replace it as part of the prep, and said they'd look to replace it if it were "close to 80%". No idea if that's just one dealer's policy though, or if it was just meant to reassure me.
I can't help but think though that if I was coming to them with a car to sell that was more towards 100% than 50% that they'd chip me down on the price.
Have read apocryphal stories on other forums of people experiencing popping into neutral at ~70%+, but have no personal experience to speak of, and I suspect every car is different.

A well set up 430 will not experience any issue until around 80-90% wear. It has a twin plate clutch and very good control unit software. A 360, with a single plate clutch and much more basic software will start having issues staying in gear at around 65-70% wear, or even just over 50% if it's a 1999 car.

What would you consider acceptable clutch percentage when purchasing a Ferrari from a dealer or indy? what percentage (unprompted by customer) would an official dealer replace a clutch before putting 2 years Ferrari warranty on it?
Do they care about the clutch wear with regards to a warranty - clutch isn't covered! It would certainly be part of any negotiations on price and maybe insisting on having it changed before purchase depending on wear.Gassing Station | Ferrari V8 | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
