I've only gone and done it !!!!!!!!!
Discussion
After years of lurking, dreaming, agonising and anguish looking on as a definitely maybe one day Ferrari tifosi man, I've now only gone and done it, all being well I should be in my first Ferrari and the age of 44 in a week or so, I have know idea what my emotions are right now having only agreed yesterday, they seem to be a cocktail of absolute terror, exhilaration and a hint of wanting to shed a tear with all the emotion of my life's journey to this point.
Buying a Ferrari was so much harder than I ever thought it would be, it seems every independent with a claimed best reputation and deepest pockets is a crook, every official dealer is over hyped, with expensive stock that actually comes (sometimes) from independent dealers, one can't do without the other it seems, then there is all the other scary stories on top!!
So I had to ask myself some basic questions on New Years eve, old or new as I can afford, investment or pleasure, I went for the latter on both, after all I've just binned £30k on 2.5years of Land Rover RRS ownership from new, so can it get any worse than that!! so then it came down to UK stock and what you can logistically see in the flesh given the colour and spec I wanted.
So in short, it's looking like 2015 will be my 1st year with a Ferrari, if it is I'm going to suck every ounce of pleasure out of it regardless of cost, part of that pleasure will be to be welcomed into the Ferrari stable and to meet and greet many other petrolheads whom have also had the privilege to be a Ferrari owner, for those are still on their journey I'd say to you, never give up, its never to late.

Epic story and very well put. I took the same leap 3 years back and bought my first Porsche GT3, when they were affordable! Absolutely same emotions and unsure who to trust. Now I have switched from the GT3 to Ferrari and picked up an old air cooled porker on the way. Enjoy the process - every time I see anyone of the cars I am jumping around like a kid at Christmas. My recommendation is find a garage to look after your car you trust. There are a lot of independents but use other peoples knowledge to find the right one for you. I called up many and asked questions talked things through with them. It is quite quick to understand the ones you want to stay with. Look after the car as well as it will look after you. Enjoy....I need to read through the rest of your post to see if you have put up any pics. If not pics are required.

I was hoping for specifics on which car, as I'm in the market myself and was being nosey.
The 430 Is a tricky one I think. Still depreciating..but dropping down to only a small premium over some of the more hopefully priced 360s. By all accounts a much better car than a 360 too....to me, a very sensible proposition as an 'everyday' Ferrari. Sorry if I am coming across a little coy, I'm just concerned that I may be jumping the gun in my current giddy state, still a lot to sort out before collection, for those who have asked the question it is a Rosso/crema F430 2005 spider with 18k miles, with the only option I really wanted above the colour combo, which is the carbon race seats, the car and video can be found at Amarisupercars.com showing as "under offer"
Thank you for all your comments, still smiling!

Just think how many more cars Ferrari/(insert any other supercar brand) would sell if people didn't have to put up with this bullst!Put me right off. I find it stressful enough buying a BMW FFS.
OP well done

For every good experience with a dealer, there's a bad one. I try to balance them out, but always use Google and the PH search facility to see what experiences others have had with them. Put me right off. I find it stressful enough buying a BMW FFS.
OP well done

Well done, I'm sure it'll be mindblowing when you collect it. Thank you for all your comments, still smiling!
Don't blame you for being a little coy, I'd probably be the same, although I was really curious about what you'd bought
