360 owners - Do you own F1 or Manual?
Discussion
Here's a recent thread - they seem to come up every month http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Don't listen to t'internet. Try them both and then decide.....
+1. I've owned both and driven countless examples of each. Both transmissions have their positives and negatives - it all boils down to personal preference...Each to their own, try both and decide for yourself!!!!!!!! Whichever you choose unless you have driven a 430 or 458 or 488 I am sure you won't be disappointed....
I agree with much of the above sentiment. Anybody telling you it has to be a manual is talking poop, probably trying to keep up the perceived very small premium their own manual car may or may not hold over the F1 equivalent. Try them both, buy on condition and above all, get the car YOU want. Either way you'll enjoy it and either way you'll wonder what it'd be like if you bought the other!
Fwiw, I'm not the only person who went out looking for a manual spider, finally settling on a F1 Modena (absolutely nothing to do with the price). I'd also be happy with any variant.
Enjoy

Having driven the auto California, auto 458 and auto F12 and hating all 3 of them when I bought my 360 there was only ever one option... a proper gated manual.
A large part of F car ownership for me is that wonderful tactile click-clack metal gate and the idea of an automatic Ferrari just didn't sit right, if I bought one I just knew that I'd regret it.
Having had the gated transmission for over a year (and approaching 9k KM now) I know I was right to wait for a manual.
All that said, it is personal choice, drive both, but drive them extensively.

I just don't get the whole manual thing. I had a manual 360 and was very disappointed by how long the throw was between the gears. I went onto the CS with the F1 box and it was a massive improvement then 430 a bit better and then 458 which is fantastic.
Just my humble..

I'd been wondering myself why quite a lot of people dismiss the F1 box but nobody, NOBODY slates the Challenge Stradale. A bit weird that.Just my humble..

I'd agree the F430 was improved and I'd love to have a go in a 458 (a different system of course rather than a progression…)
