After some advice on an up coming purchase.....

Been flip flopping between a Gallardo and F430 Spider for a while and have settled on an F430 so the hunt proper has started!! Sold wifes old Cmax she is having my current steed (2014 Golf R) to ferry kids about and that's freed me up for a toy purchase. Budget up to £70k.

Only planning to keep a year or so and don't want to take a complete bath and pay main dealer prices but is warranty worth the paper its written on? Appears to cover electrics, transmission and engine only? Also as long as you get a car inspected and it has FFSH can take out Ferrari power warranty anyway?

Done lots of reading and know I should be looking for one with...

- Replaced manifolds (ideally after market). If not Ferrari MK2 with ideally changed brackets.
- Clutch life of 50% plus ideally recently changed.
- Ball joints replaced
- Ideally full service history to ensure re-sell and to assure myself its been loved.

Any thing else I should be looked for? Any advice in what to look for?

Planning to have an inspection done when I find the right car.

Cant be a red one as I nearly died in a car I rolled many years ago that was red and promised the wife I would never drive a red car again (thinks its an unlucky colour for me). So looking at black or grey, like white normally but not sure on a Ferrari (not seen white in flesh yet though!)

Budgeted £4k slush fund for maintenance and consumables so going in eyes open in the regard!

Sounds like you've got your head screwed on right smile You've covered most of the bases. Get a good Ferrari specific PPI from someone who is already familiar with the foibles of the F430.

Power warranty is ~£2700 a year, and if your car has been outside of the network I think they would insist upon a "Welcome back" service (might be wrong about that)

Buying from a main dealer will give you 2 years of this warranty which might be advantageous when you come to sell in 12 months time (or if you fall in love and keep it longer biggrin). As you are aware though you'll pay a good sight more for this.

You haven't said if you want F1 or manual? The latter will likely hurt come resale even if you prefer it.

Spec wise I'm not sure what's "required" on Nero cars. Shields are a given.

Cheers for feedback much appreciated! F1 over manual for sure, I will have a look about at dealers but with my budget think they will all be atleast £10k too much.

I may end up falling in love and keeping never normally keep a car longer than 18 months before but you never know.. that noise is addictive :-)

the revised Ferrari warranty is (at least on paper)more comprehensive than the old; mention of suspension components etc

Ferrari 'Power Warranty' launched

FNEPR said:
The warranty prices (+vat) are as follows:
V8 models: £2900 for Year 5, then £2100 for Year 6 to 12.
V12 models: £4000 for Year 5, then £2600 for Year 6 to 12.

Customers will receive a 15 per cent loyalty incentive for purchasing additional warranties. A further 15 per cent incentive is also available if no warranty claims were made in the preceding 12 month warranty period.

The New Power Warranty now covers a lot more items than the old "Power Train" warranty used to cover: for example parts of the air conditioning unit and power window motors are now covered, whereas the old Power Train warranty only covered the basic mechanicals of engine and gearbox. The old Power Train warranty has been discontinued and all cars up to 12 years old are eligible for the New Power Warranty.

The warranty is available to purchase from any official Ferrari dealer, even for cars that have been serviced outside of the official network, subject to a technical inspection.

And, finally, any cars which have not been serviced by an official dealer recently can take part in the "Welcome Back" programme, in which an official Ferrari dealer will service the car and provide new Service Book if necessary, with confirmation that the car meets all Ferrari current standards with any outstanding service campaigns or other updates completed on the car.
