Does anyone have one of these? They make a 355 with a Tubi sound tame! I have some 200 cell cats to go on and I'm still trying to decide if the X-Pipe is a bit much for road use.

Fabspeed and S-Line produce them. I like the look of Fabspeeds:

I understand both suffer badly from drone.

Thanks Russell. Always a downside! Do you know how bad it is, where it occurs in the rev range etc?

I assume around 3000 rpm but no personal experience - simply read a number of threads/comments on FC. Actually looking at the picture you have posted the Fabspeed version has retained the valves so this might not be too bad.

I've been looking in to this myself and come to the following conclusion...

These X-pipes while sound great at full chat do suffer from the mentioned dreaded drone. If you can work with that then they will sound v good. However, all you are doing by adding the X-pipe is making the quiet zone (aka with the valves shut) louder. With the valves open the X-pipe / standard pipe is bypassed = open. I've just fitted a remote valve (Scuderia Systems) to control full open / close operation and it works a treat, nice for those moments on a long drive you just want to cruise (if you can in a Scud smile).

Next step... I think the real quality 'pitch' will be gained by playing with the Cats and leaving the standard box in place. Sports Cats, standard box and remote valve would give you the very best of both worlds - aka Primeval F1 scream when you need it and at the flick of a switch back to standard silencers albeit a bit louder due to the cats...
