Noticed last night that my 2006 F430 F1 changes up automatically (when not in auto mode) when I hit the redline. My C63 when in manual mode wont change and will sit on the limiter until I pull the paddle.

Is this normal for the F1 to change up auto?

It only does it in Sport mode, in Race mode it'll bounce you off the limiter.

You must have a had a very special one then, because they all do it.

Lucky me then because mine didn't, so they don't "all do it". Say what you're actually thinking fella.

It may have done it in Race mode, I can't recall but I drove it in sport mode for 20,000 miles and it hit the limiter plenty of times.

Perhaps I should ask for a refund.

In race mode it won't shift before hitting the limiter, in sport mode it will. I can't explain why yours didn't, but Ferrari did intend for them all to do it.

Well it's a mystery then.
I had the car 5 years, had a very good relationship with the main dealer tech guys, had all the services and software updates and had loads of stuff sorted under Ferrari warranty. The car was test driven by Ferrari techs on plenty of occasions and it was never mentioned.
Genuinely puzzled.

I've done a further 10k miles in your old car Brad and I'm not sure which setting it changes up in but it certainly has changed up. I'm not going out in it tonight as the roads are covered in salt but next time I do,I'll check. Other than that, I have to agree our car is indeed special, I think it's the best one they ever made!

Race or CST off are the only modes where it won't change up automatically at redline, i'm pretty sure yours will be the same smile

In Race does it changes down if the revs fall too low?

Well I'm losing my mind then, and apologies if I've got it wrong.
What are the different modes on the little steering wheel switch? I could swear I always left in it in sport and it didn't auto-change.

Race mode is the middle setting of the five, and imo the only one to use, except when you want/need the car to be quieter (or of course on track in the case of CT/CST off modes).

Right well then my memory has completely gone, I'm sure Sport was the middle setting, I'd bet good money on it, 4 was Race and 5 was all computers off. I have no recollection of the lower two settings.
