Hi all...

New to posting on here but interested in hearing people's view on this. I have owned my black F430 from new and love it to bits, currently see it as my keeper... However - I do fancy a colour change to Red. I know some advice would be sell it and buy a red one but I know the cars history plus the cost of getting in and out could be the same as a respray...

I guess my question is, if I did respray the car (done properly with photos and supporting docs) is the view that I would (if I decided to) find it difficult to sell? I know of some of the older classics have gone through colour changes without effecting values, is it the same with modern cars?

All feedback welcome and appreciated...

Why not just wrap it ?

Cost substantially less and after a couple of years just take it off to go back to the original paintwork which has been protected in that time

Personally I wouldn't go near a completely repainted car even if it was a Ford Fiesta let alone a Ferrari

Interesting post, often wondered this myself. Not sure if you would get the same quality or shine with a wrap plus I've heard lacquer horror stories come unwrapping...

If you ever have to sell you will find it real hard, no one will ever believe that you just fancied a red one, and the photos will only prove what it looked like before the major accident if you get my point.
Go and look at a proper wrap, I understand they are approx £1500 for a proper job, you can get them for as little as £700 and that I would suggest is the difference between very good and poor.
I have no first hand experience but good friend done a few times so can get contacts if you wish.
Please don't paint it :-(

I live in Dubai and for what it is worth there are a *lot* of cars which get wrapped and the costs involved can be quite large depending on the quality of the wrap and who does it. I would research a company who is a known quantity both for the quality of the wrap and the unwrap if you can find one and go that route. Just my opinion...wouldn't go for a respray myself.

Look at PW Pro for wraps, thats the route i'd go and it will help preserve the original black paintwork

You are quite right. This will show up in the vehicles history.

OP, if it's a keeper - why not? They are the easiest thing in the world to spray because none of the apertures are painted in body colour! 'Fitter' time is low compared to a regular car.

So by what you are saying, they are easy to spray (take it you mean no need to respray engine bays and alike) and if done properly the only way to tell would be the log book entry?

There would still be the original colour shown on the options list.

Bear in mind that regarding the circumstances of why it was resprayed it's not just the future buyer you need to convince, they would need to convince themselves that not only are they happy with it, but that they'll be comfortable fielding the same questions themselves when they come to sell.

FWIW I wouldn't buy one that hadn't had the engine bay, etc done (i.e. a least cost/hassle job).

Yes, the only way to tell is the cars history.

The engine bays aren't painted, well ,certainly not on my spider or any other F430 I've seen so far. Do you mean the return lip on the panels?

I was speaking more in general terms, but yeah.
