Am looking for hindsight if possible as seriously considering making a purchase.

Is there anything option wise that is a must for a 458?

I ask as I always plan for the divorce as they say and I wouldn't like to be left holding a car that didn't have the correct spec or colour.

Any general comments or help/advice would be very welcome.

Forgive me if this/these questions have been asked in the past.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Hi I just got mine at the weekend so considered the same questions.

For me, the "must have" spec was:

-20" Forged Painted Rims
-Carbon Fibre Racing Seats
-Carbon Fibre Steering Wheel & LEDs
-Suspension Lifter
-Satellite Navigation System & Bluetooth
-Front & Rear Parking Sensors
-Scuderia Ferrari Shields - I was told this is a must have by a few dealers and can't be retrofitted.

My car had a some others which were only "nice to haves":

-Alcantara Centre Sections to Leather Racing Seats in Nero
-Yellow Brake Calipers
-Yellow Rev Counter
-Alcantara Upholstery for Headliner in Nero
-Extracampionaro Stitching
-iPod Connection
-Electrochromatic Inner Mirror

Good luck with the search.

Agree with mist of the above but I believe the lift option isn't really neccesary. Never caught the front of mine in 8.-9k miles.

I agree with sone on the front lift. I have to drive over quite a few speed humps & have never caught the underside of the car.

I also agree with Skittles on most of his essential spec. Many dealers recommend Daytona seats, which mine has-!I like the fact they are full electric seats with seat heating. Other dealers recommend the carbon sports seats which are manual with no seat heating. Both are popular.

There seems to be bucket loads of red 458s for sale so I'd go for grey, black or white myself for hopefully a better residual. If you're planning on keeping it long term then red would be fine.

I don't think suspension lifter is essential.I was told by Ferrari instructor to just put manettino in race mode (ie stiff suspension) for speed humps.

Ditto, 5700 miles since May (from new) 2700 of which across 8 countries in August and never needed the lift. 2 ferries too.

Carbon seats (large) have been very comfy, standard stereo with ipod has been great. I would definitely spec the roof what comes off though. ;-)
