Hi all

Okay a bit of a numpty thing to do but after the excitment of picking up my new pride and joy Stradale a few weeks back, I have managed to render it totally imobile.

Basically, I needed to let the car sit for a couple of weeks and was going to attach a battery trickle charger and then I noticed the electrical cut off switch under the front hood. So I switched it off and promptly closed the bonnet....... Hmmm. Problem is I now can't get into the bonnet area as the release catch is triggered by a switch in the car, but the car has no power obviously (scratches head....).

Luckily the passenger door is open so I can at least get into the car but I can't close it as the drop down windows are now not working....

If anyone can assist as to how I can get my bonnet release to pop I would be extremely grateful.

Is it just me or is this a bad design flaw in the location of the cut-off switch. Perhaps I am not the first therefore to suffer from this so if there is already another thread, it would be equally great if someone could point me there as i couldn't find it.

Many thanks

There is a pull toggle under the steering wheel that releases the bonnet. It is described in the manual.

The 'bad design flaw' is assuming owners read the manual !!

The toggle is under the glove box isn't it?

May depend upon if its LHD or RHD.

Why on Earth would anyone read the instructions for a 6 figure purchase when you can press things at random or just ask on the internet?

It's not like it's anything complex, like a washing machine.

OOOOPPPPS. Ah okay fantastic, thank you for the quick response. Yes I guess I should have checked in the manual first, but unfortunately I keep the car at an entirely different location. But this is a very welcome quick fix to my problem, look forward to rendering the car mobile again when I next go down to it on Friday. Thank you all

Good point about which side the steering wheel is.. Mine is LHD so perhaps on a right hooker it's passenger side.

Mine also a LHD. I did actually call Marenello in Egham and explained the problem I had and they told me to 'attach a power supply' to the boot lid switch so perhaps they could also do with a read of the manual.....

That advice is shocking. I cannot believe they wouldn't know about the manual means of opening the boot, let alone the potential for causing problems by connecting external electrical supplies to the car like this.

I had something similar happen to me last weekend on my 360 Modena.

Was getting the car ready to go out, put something in the front and closed the bonnet, just as I remembered I hadn't switched on the battery cut off switch in the front.

There is a manual cable pull which is located on the left hand side of the dashboard, just under the glove box on a RHD car, I guess this would be under the steering column on a LHD car.

One thing to check for if you cant see it, is that the cable handle can get wedged in the glove box door gap, so may be out of sight and tricky to find, so open the glove box and look around the gap where it opens.

It's probably a good idea to have a pull on these now and again, also the filler and engine cover releases. I had a bonnet cable seize in my old Porsche 944 through lack of use and the thought of having to open it with a crowbar wasn't good. On that occasion I was fortunate enough to be able to lube and free the cable but these days I take no chances!!
