Contemplating the addition of an exhaust of some kind to an incoming purchase, looking on YouTube the X pipe / cross flow type's look to make good noise (not so fussed about BHP but always a Brucey)

Anyone care to share thoughts recomendations, specifically somewhere in the UK that might make these types of pipes for the Scud.

Keep stock - Absolutely. You driven it in anger yet? It really really doesn't need to be any louder than stock.

Only car I've ever owned that I would never of considered fitting anything less restrictive to.

Really - I would have thought an aftermarket pipe of some kind to let the noise flow (concious I dont want it to get too droney though).

Was also going to fit a valve switch to allow full opening (on / off).

Didnt expect the stock response, must be good then!

- no havent driven it at full blatt yet so maybe that will help make my mind up on the drive home smile Just doing a bit of 'man shopping' to help kill the wait time till early October. Other than the exhaust I wasnt planning to do anything to the car as it's otherwise perfect.

Another vote for stock.
The car sounds great with all the valves etc open, not sure what an after market exhaust would add.

If you live in a built up area you need to consider how loud it might be as well. I'm in central London and have had a few complaints - the last one when I was parking it.......

Stock sound is good but not what I would call epic compared to my LP570-4 stock exhaust or my F355GTS with capristo.

Must admit if I could sneak another £10k past the missus for a full Capristo system on the Scud I definitely would.
Russell 996 is the expert on exhausts and he highly recommends the capristo.
Well engineered system, great quality, lighter and more bhp with a real F1 shriek to them

I've never bothered to look into a Scud exhaust but on other cars I've had the claimed hp increase has been minimal. I'd be interested to know what the gain would be here?
I've seen some before and after dyno tests even show a slight drop in output compared to standard.
If I was going to drop £10k on an exhaust I'd want to know I was getting more than just a better noise through tunnels.
The only clear benefit I've seen investigating for my cars in the past is a weight saving, I'm not saying that's always the case but I'd do my due diligence before splashing the cash to change.

I don't get the "Capristo" thing it just makes you look like an idiot.

Over-priced too; the quality isn't a patch on Supersprint.

Scuderia in stock configuration is a great sounding car, there is no need to change anything. Agreed. smile

However, it doesn't sound as good as a CS and that was my previous car!

I can't claim to be an expert on every exhaust on the market, I have done quite a bit of research and have now tried both Tubi and Capristo on my 16M.

The Tubi came first, a specially made Inconel valveless muffler but running with stock cats and manifolds - lovely construction and light weight but suffered from bad drone at 3k revs and of course was always very loud - too hardcore for me!

So, more research and moved onto Capristo. Complete system with manifolds, 200 cel cats and muffler with remote valve control. Every part has a heat shield blanket and all the carbon is now safe from the overheating issues that affect so many Scuds. System is lighter than stock, just as quiet as stock with valves shut, louder than stock with valves open, more powerful than stock, far better quality than stock (manifolds on all 430's are poor), but most of all better sounding than stock and even more importantly better sounding than my previous CS.

Capristo is expensive but the quality is very good, sound is superb and the remote valve control gives the best of both worlds - is it necessary? Of course not. smile

Quick footnote - one of the biggest differences with an aftermarket exhaust (both Tubi and Capristo had the same effect) is that the down change blips become much more pronounced - at any speed and any revs, I like this but of course others may not.

Now you have done it Russell ! That's left me wanting one even if it is £10k for just an exhaust pipe

Have to say compared with the lambo the downshift blips are hardly noticeable on my Scuderia ????
The Lambo downshifts on the stock exhaust are simply outrageous and make me laugh every time. Find myself changing down unnecessarily because they are so amazing.

Would be great to get that in the Scuderia.

Russell the Capristo and Scuderia systems websites refer to different levels of sound being available. Do you know if yours is level 1,2 or 3 ?

There is only one option for the Scud! Loud

Excuse me for being lazy and not reading the various links Russell but I thought I'd rely on your expertise instead, what are the claimed hp gains for the various systems over stock?

Cool but strictly speaking Loud or not so loud with the valves closed.
1. Do you get any CEL problems ? I'm sure Scuderia systems told me that is definitely not the case.
2. Is there UK legislation outlawing this exhaust for road use ?
3. Lastly while I'm picking your brains any idea why my downshifts are not very noticeable ?

1. No CEL problems with my complete system. I did run for a period with Capristo cats/muffler and stock manifolds and got some CEL errors - I guess the exhaust is designed to run as a complete unit even thought the cats/muffler will fit the stock manifold.
2. smile (200 CEL cat emissions?) Passed MOT twice now.
3. They will be with an aftermarket exhaust

I don't know about expertise (I bought mine for the sound) but I believe without an ECU change the following gains are obtained for the complete system.

+ 40hp + 60nm at 4500 rpm
-24kg

Capristo do make nice sounding pipes IMO, just don't expect any customer after care once purchased. All from experience, but name and shame rules prevent me from posting details on here! frown

From my experience of dealing with Capristo their after sales is second to none - Antonio Capristo has always been on hand to deal with any queries/issues! I can't praise them enough.
I assume you have contacted them with your issue?
