Hi all,

I'm about to pull the trigger on a 1999 355 with F1 gearbox. I need some advice from F1 owners...

Car advertised as having a 'recent' clutch replacement. Being sold by a small indy.

Me to external / third party service manager: "what's the clutch reading?"

Service manager: "70% wear, probably needs a new one."

Dealer response : "oh, that's wrong, it just needed the reading system to be manually reset... 70% is the previous clutch wear. Once reset the reading will be very low. "

Can I ask any owners... Am I being completely had, or is this a potentially authentic response?

Thank you for your help!

Can you find out how many miles ago is the invoice for the 'recent' replacement ?

Well, tbh, the fact that you've asked the question, your awooga bell has gone off.

And imho, rightly so!

Get it checked if you feel the need to

Good luck smile

This again and yes check the mileage against the invoice for the parts, it's easy to reset or adjust the readings without replacing the clutch

Thanks for all comments. I don't want to name the dealer as all seems ok so far, and it may unfairly taint. Spoke to a main dealer and they confirmed that there is a reset before a new clutch reading, so it could all be authentic.

I'm jumping in to my first Ferrari (after plenty of Astons, a couple of Lambos, a few 911s, and a Spyker: tip= just say no if offered one) .

Starting Ferrari ownership with one of the prettiest and best sounding from Maranello... In an unusual and rare colour.... Can't wait!

My point was not to name and shame but if one of the well known Independents on here had told you that then no problem, someone outside the inner sanctum ? Then maybe a problem :-)
