Had my 458 for a couple of months now and I can't seem to get any confidence in the brakes.

Had an incident at Donnington Park at the old hairpin where the pedal was solid and they just didn't work. Thankfully came back just in time.

Since then, I have noticed the braking performance to be very inconsistant, pedal travels a fair bit and sometimes it really needs stamping on.

My elise brakes felt so much better than this.

I appreciate that the 458 is a heavy car in comparision, so it's never going to perform like a sub 700KG elise or caterham under braking, but I expected better than this.

Is this normal or do I need to be investigating further?

Not norma for CCMs, the latest Gen3 should be excellent. If you are getting a solid pedal I'd look to see if there's a faulty non return valve in the servo feed or an ABS problem

Are you running std size rims?

Try bedding them in as per below? Might help, worth a try certainly.

I have standard rims and tried the bedding in process already.

Looks like I will need to dig further...

I've just done the bedding in process on my Speciale. I too had a wooden brake!

Now they are immense.
