Getting sick of dealers advertising cars they dont have!
Discussion
Does this annoy just me?
Hunting for a car and as soon as one comes up I call, sorry it sold weeks ago...
So why the **** advertise it?!
I have just rang a dealer for the third time about a car they keep posting up.
The guy on the phone was a bit smart too. Just means I am less likely to buy anything from them.
If they cant get their act together with what their stock list is what hope do you have of getting a decent car?
Must have made 20+ calls like this over the last few weeks - its almost like they want to p*ss you off?

What are you looking for, Simon?
F355. I was on the cusp of buying but PPI has come back -ve.Still searching but its a waste of my time talking to dealers who don't even know what stock they have.
I spoke to one dealer 2 weeks ago, they "thought the car was sold but will have to check and call back". A week later no call, assume its sold. Ring them up on Friday, its not sold! Not even interested in doing a deal either, its advertised price or nothing. Hmmm.

It is a bit silly really. The F430 Spider I left a deposit on two months ago and collected last week is still advertised.
That really bugs me , when I sell a car I love to mark it up as sold but so many dealers leave it up so they can carry on getting calls and take details from people ,in one way am sure it's just good business acumen but I don't like it Nmj said:

Dealers struggle to get good stock of premium cars above £100k. Noone wants to see a near-empty carsales webpage, because it looks bad. Perfectly understandable why dealers do it. Better to have a full salespage than an empty one.
like mine is , but then at least am not misleading people It's so frustrating - so far 2 x 430s I am interested in are sold but still advertised + one 360. Just take them down / mark as "deposit taken" if that is the case... Can't be that hard to do
Martian - am looking for a red/black manual 360 so interested in this as well... Can you PM details?

Two dealers that I called did not have the advertised cars or were sold. Tried selling me Spiders.....If I had wanted a Spider, I would have bloody well enquired about one...chancers.
Sounds remarkably like "bait and switch" marketing Two dealers that I called did not have the advertised cars or were sold. Tried selling me Spiders.....If I had wanted a Spider, I would have bloody well enquired about one...chancers.
Advertising something you don't have for sale is an offence under Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations (CPRs). For the regulations to have been broken you must have had your actions infuenced in somewhay, however this caould merely be going in to see the dealer, or even just telephoning them.
Contact their Local Trading Standards (aka Consumer Direct) or the Office of Fair Trading OFT for serious cases.

I just had a thought, they're advertising something that belongs to you as though they have it for sale.Go back, take a picture of one of their cars (or just screen grab it from their website), then advertise it online as though you are selling it.
I'm sure they'd be in touch soon enough
