I know its been discussed before but I just wanted an up to date picture of who to use?
I currently insure another "classic" via Footman James for a fairly reasonable sum.
They are quoting £590 for a 355 (2k) and that seems a bit expensive to me?
Suggestions welcome!!!!!

That seems pricey, although what are your circumstances and where is the car parked?

I insured my 360 Spider for £820 through Bridle, I was 25 when I took the policy out, garaged, 3 points, 4k miles per year. Definitely worth a call IMO, nobody else came close.

Have you tried mainstream insurers?

I was less than that for a F430 F1 Spider through Admiral. 26 years old, 6k miles a year, no points..

Will they not want to use my tin top NCD?

I am currently using Locktons; considering adding it to the policy I have with classicline when it expires.

+1 for Bridle.

Competitive price and includes track day cover.

It's a classic car policy so doesn't use or collect no-claims discounts.

Locktons just quoted me for the 355, £986.00.
34, with 11 years NCB and no points.
Car in classic car storage
Am I being done?

Sees a little high. Can't recall my exact premium but think it was around £800 with Keith Michaels- full NCB, no points and garaged.

Don't forget figure will be affected by mileage valuation postcode additional drivers and many other factors leaving aside all the comparators with other policies that may or may not be included

Still waiting for a few quotes to come in but it seems the £500 mark is going to be about right for me.
Quite shocked its so high given the really low quotes others have had.
My tin top is worth similar to the 355, faster, probably more expensive to repair and that's £400..?
Any who will await the last couple of quotes.

I'm basically the same as you and my renewal from Admiral is £202 this year. I think it largely depends on postcode though.

Is that using NCD or as a "non" NCD type policy?

£986.00 was mileage ltd to 3k.
Post code should be ok and in secure compound.
Could this figure be down to my first Ferrari?
Mainstream insurer's wont give the agreed value as far as I'm aware?

32 years, 1 NCB, garaged, social and commuting, 12k miles pa, £1,400ish
can't recall exact numbers, but sth along theses lines with Admiral a few years ago

addition: postcode made a huge difference, moved from SW8 to NW1, everything else the same and suddenly they wanted double

FYI, insurers like Lockton and ManningUK include track day cover and seem to be little more expensive. I'm 32, lots of NCB but in London and doing 3k miles or so on each and with Lockton I pay about £1100 for my 550 (although due to its increase in value this will be going up by about £120) and a similar amount for my 997.1 GT3. On a regular policy with say Admiral I can almost halve those numbers but then not have TD cover which tends to come in at about 0.5% of the value of the car per event i.e. about £350 per day which given that I prob will do a couple for days in each every year at the minimum works out cost effective.

Lockton have alwys given me good service but really they have got rather pricey in the last couple of years, they wanted silly money for my GT3 until I got them to price match ManningUK. I want to have my 993 with them when insurance expires in a couple of months (I currently do TDs uninsured with it), but I'm not sure I can stomach the almost inevitable £400 increase in premium I'll likely see.

Please also bear in mind that the "budget" insurers may have limits on labour charges. The Chubb policy via Locktons is a good quality product worthy of the extra cost IMO.

There is numerous discussions over on the Aston Martin section regarding Admiral and their £45 per hour max labour limit which wont cover the cost of a specialist repairer and may force you into using their approved repairer unless you fancy paying the difference!

Admiral are also the only insurer who will void your policy if you havent disclosed a "drivers awareness course" so watch this!
