Frayed Seats on Scud - Bizarre?

Anyone seen anything like this before?:



One day it wasn't there, the next it was - no idea how to fix without a complete seat re-trim.

I test drove a Scuderia at Dick Lovett's Swindon a couple of years ago that had a frayed driver's seat just like that. I wonder if it's the same car?

No idea of the cause but can you not roll the seam, kind of like you'd roll a cigarette, between you thumbs and forefingers? I'm guessing its the stuffing hanging out and it just needs putting back in.

I'll see if it can be poked back in. As original post says, it literally appeared overnight so doubt it was the Lovett car.

A slight OT but any reason for still having the factory green inspection dots on the carbon!?

They were there so I left them there

Strange! I've not seen many Scuds with Technical Fabric rather than Alcantara.

Had a much closer look this morning and I know what it is now. If you look at the photo you will see that the nylon threads are actually part of the weave that goes horizontally across the material covering the seat bolster. These threads have either snapped or otherwise come loose and have started to work their way out of the edges of the seat at the seams. You can see in the photo where in the past these threads have been pulled out leaving traces where there is no highlight from the embedded nylon thread. Maybe this is the car referred to at Lovett's elsewhere in this thread.



This is clearly a flaw in the material so I wonder what Ferrari might have to say about it (I can guess) as I know these seats are fantastically expensive and probably can't be re-covered.

Don't pull them, just cut them and you should be OK.

Agree. I would take an electric shaver to them and be very careful not to apply any pressure
