Hello all,

Am on the verge of having a 360 checked out by Foskers near Brands Hatch; am very much a newbie to the prancing horses so wondered if

1. fosters gets a thumbs up
and
2. Are the later cars i.e. 2003/4 worth holding out for vs the earlier (2001) models?

Foskers have been around a number of years and are 5 mins from my house.
I use TFC in Maidstone for no real reason other than that I have built up a good relationship over the past few years with them.
Foskers get a good shout, only negative I have read is there hourly rate compared to others which to be honest I have no idea on, just what I read on here.
Later 360's had a few minor changes, if you want to fit 19" alloys then go for a late model.
Buy on condition not age and miles within reason.

Of late foskers seem to be concentrating on the older classic stuff rather than 360 / 430 market.
However none of this will effect the ability to do a good PDI

Out of interest why a later car for the larger wheels?

The ABS software was changed to be less sensitive. Some early cars suffer ABS/TC issues with 19" wheels, mine being one of them.
I think the update was some time in 2002.

Interesting, never knew that. Can it be fixed / is it expensive (the latter might be a silly question? smile)

Not sure if it can be sorted with an ecu update or not, 19" wheels despite I believe having the same rolling radius seem to mess things up on the early cars, and I'm not even sure that it affects all cars cerbieherts and voicey are the ones who will know ....

Not all early cars are affected but it is a real issue.

I'm not entirely 100% sure what causes the problem - I suspect that the ABS ECU mapping was updated during the production run. However, there is no change in part number so it is hard to say for sure.

I suppose one could buy a new ECU but it is only supplied as one with the pump and is big £££.

Aldous,

When I was trying to sort mine I'm pretty sure there was a superceded part number......

For those wondering.....The problem is really early ABS intervention which is quite terrifying. The pedal goes rock hard with very little breaking power. Mine did it only above.60MPH.

Refitting 18" wheels completely solved it even though they are not standard starfish ones and I'm running wider rubber. I was very careful to maintain the 360 front rear ratio.

Like voicey says it not all cars and may be down to tolerances in components, connection etc.

Interesting stuff guys. I severely doubt I would mess with the car in any way but the F1 does concern me somewhat although the lack of manuals around dictates the direction I am going in terms of purchasing.

Don't let the F1 concern you. It is a reliable system that just needs the right expertise to set-up.
