Hi all, can anyone tell me if my original exhaust pipes with the valves on will fit my level two capristo,I don't want to damage the engine by excessive back pressure.
It's just to loud around town below 3k revs, also will they create to much heat when closed, many thanks Mike

Hi Mike, I can't help regarding the back pressure question but in terms of physical fitment I can tell you they will fit. My car had Capristo tail pipes fitted to the original exhaust when I first bought it.

Think I am correct in saying that capristo do a valved and non valved version that utilises the same box.

The original 360 tailpipes are shorter than the capristo units, as the original silencer is considerably wider. They would have to be lengthened to fit a Capristo silencer.

I found the same with the Tubi exhaust. Is your capristo also boomy at low RPMs? I was considering fitting the factory tips but never got round to it.

I've now got a Ferrari Challenge Stradale exhaust which is very good for slow/town driving as it isn't too loud until the valve opens, when all hell breaks loose.

It's not boomy just a little to loud, the old original exhaust is fairly poor, I might have to put an original back on, i might try and sell the capristo, thanks all, Mike

I have a spare stock exhaust in London if you need one. It's in pretty good condition from memory (it's in the garage and boxed at the moment).

Get in contact with capristo, they will sell you a valved set of tailpipes (although not cheap!) or look out for a set of used CS tailpipes.

Mike, if you do sell the Capristo I may well be interested.
still wearing the standard pipes on mine and the mechanic I use has told me that it's on its last legs..... seems like a good excuse to upgrade and I reckon either a Capristo or a Tubi should do me nicely.

i was in the same position last week, but ended up buying a new, complete Stadale (ferrari racing) system from Tim @ Walkersport... i know he has one complete system left too if interested.

Thats the problem after ten years many of the original exhausts have seen better days. The capristo looks superb and the engineering of it is first class My sons have told me to keep the capristo fitted ! I might give it a little longer and see if I can get used to it It sounds fantastic and all that horrible rattly sounds gone, many thanks anyway Mike

I don't think those will fit a standard capristo. For starters, they have a bit that fits to the cats - I bet his silencer also has pipes that fit onto the cats.

Set of 430 pipes and a welding kit then :-)

Or just cut the standard valves into the capristo pipes ? Depending on how the gases are routed in the box.

Voiceyi is correct my capristo has pipes on it that join the cats, I considered buying two bypass valves from capristo and having them welded to the existing pipes. But it seems that the tailpipe that makes the noise is the inside one and not the outer one as with the originals, I also am beginning to worry that by messing around I might cause damage to the engine with excessive back pressure on the way up yo 3.5k when the valves would open .
I am also mindful that the car is going to be far from standard in this dept and seriously keep considering putting either the old system back or sourcing a newer good condition oem exhaust.
The trouble is as most of you know the bypass valves rattle and the silencer just vibrates and rattles etc when accelerating and driving with spirit, whereas the capristo does sound so good. Any thoughts gratefully appreciated, Mike

You mind if I ask what the cost was (feel free to PM me) don't want to waste Tim's time if we're talking Akrapovich money!

£2800 + vat - i wouldn't say it cheap, but I think it's pretty good value considering is a genuine ferrari part, and comes complete with all brackets, clamps, heatsheilds etc...

Mike, I would get a quote from capristo for valved tailpipes but I recon unless they take yours in px your looking at £1500 which you can get a used system for.
Option 2 sell yours on eBay and pick up a used valved system.
You could speak with roger at TFC workshop who has 2 used Tubis but I don't know if they are valved or not however if they are he would px yours.
If you are on a budget and it were me I would cut your original valves into the correct capristo tailpipe, check they use the same silencer box and just change the pipes.
As with the 355 they do rattle but you can normally adjust it out to stop.

Mike,

I've just compared my standard tail pipes to a set from a level two Capristo, they seem to have the same dimensions, so I would think you would be able to fit them.
