Just been out for a good run (see 348 handling thread) and as I went to accelerate out of a corner the engine fluttered for a split second just like fuel starvation. The petrol guage was reading quarter tank. I then took it easy for 5 miles or so to the nearest petrol station.
On opening the screw filler cap there was a massive rush of air sucked in, making me think it was starvation caused through a vacuum in the tank. I guess there should be a vent on the tank to prevent this.

Anyone got experience of this or can suggest where and what I should look for?

Yes there is a breather and carbon canister on the tank - first question though, are you sure it was a massive rush of air IN to the tank when you removed the fuel cap and not OUT? Mine has always exhausted air OUT when taking the filler cap off...

Normal. Check front crank sensors and the multi plub connector - very problematic on 348's
