Trying to get a red 430 spider. None for sale for reasonable money for the last 2 months!

Thought 75k would have bought a 06 red spider.

Plenty of grey and black. Unreal the premium on red. frown

You know why there's a premium don't you biggrin

Are you trying to buy main dealer? I bought my 430 in 2009, prices have hardly moved since then becuase they took such a massive hit during the credit crunch, they seem to have found their level.

John.

I guess it all depends on your interpretation of reasonable money ?
Plenty for sale ....

No not main dealer mate. 80k though for 06 year is just too much.

There's none below this level. 😡

I agree.

As someone who watches the car markets closely, I think there's something quite wrong at the moment.

I've seen several 360 Modenas up for over 60k and I just don't believe people are paying that money. If so, there's a bubble about to pop. Stradale prices are all over the place, but have jumped 50k in a matter of months for no apparent reason (supply hasn't changed)

Nearly bought a 430 about 3 years ago for £72k in perfect spec and according to asking prices now, it would be worth more.

My advice, stick in some silly offers or hang on.

Fair enough, I never look at main dealer unless they are on here, they are holding value very well as most of them are currently, thinking to change my 360 sometime but need a large wedge of cash to go with it in order to change up to 430.

If you buy from a main dealer you get a 2 year Ferrari warranty which cost them the best part of 4k so there is your difference.

I think the market is just buoyant right now.

The cheapest 458 prices are still twice the price of the cheapest 430 prices and the gap is too large. Until the 458 drops the 430 price isn't going anywhere. Plus with 360 prices strengthening/on the up, the 430 prices have nowhere to go.

I'm also on the hunt for a 430, but I'm after a manual coupe in black/grey/silver. Like you, I'm finding the market incredibly overpriced.

Why do you think so?

I guess I get that impression due to 95% of those listed are being sold by traders. I'm very aware of the large margins they add to these cars, and whilst I completely understand it's business, I find it difficult paying £75,000 for a car that I know the previous owner would have been happy to let go at £68,000. Perhaps my post was a little misleading and I should have said we need more private sellers!

At 75k I'd have expected a main dealer to have paid sub 60k for the car!. But by the time the dealer has serviced added a warranty and prepared the car he'll have spent another possibly 5-6k and maybe looking at making perhaps 7-8k on a deal once he's had a few quid chiseled off by its prospective owner. Obviously these cars can sit on the forecourts for months costing the dealer every day. I do wonder what some people think is a reasonable margin and if you think a couple of grand is reasonable then you've never run you're own business.
I personally wouldn't buy outside the network again as for me the warranty is invaluable. I speak from bitter experience!

In my opinion the lack of private sellers is more buyers then sellers fault. There are a lot of good buyers there (I personally bought my 360 privately without wasting sellers time travelling all the way from London to south coast and sold my Cayenne privately without any hassle to the guy who travelled all way down from Yorkshire) however there are a lot of time wasters as well, and also dreamers who don't have sufficient budget for the car they want. Majority of people selling their Ferraris are busy people who can't afford to waste their time for sake of extra £5-10k without guarantee of actually getting this. Owners fully understand that the dealers will take benefit of them and they would certainly prefer to take less hit selling the car privately and meet potential buyer in the middle pricing the car realistically. But there is no guarantee that even at realistic price you get decent buyer who would not waste your time. It is even more complicated with the cars over 100k where a lot of people require financing and warranty.
