I have searched forum to find answers. I have been told that Ferrari imported some 355s from Malaysia back to the UK around 1998 to cope with demand. I believe the cars where brand new but were registered abroad and will still show up on the V5C. Does this matter on the cars history and also have an effect on price.

The story sounds plausible at production level but doubt they would have registered them.
As a general rule an import car of any type will always have a bit of a stigma with it and will effect values unless it's something ultra rare.

Words used on V5C are ' previously used or registered abroad before first registered with DVLA'

I looked at a Yellow 355 many moons ago that was a Malaysian car, had the Malaysian owners details inside the 1st page of the service bokk, but had been PDI'd at a UK dealer a few days after the date in the front page,

Never heard of them reimporting cars and so certainly worth some investigation. Re the UK PDI I wonder if RHD card of the time for this market came through Maranello concessionaires in the UK before being shipped to end market?

Story goes that Ferrari Italy shipped these cars out to Malaysia as per usual export then Ferrari UK needed these cars due to lack of supply from the factory to uk so they were shipped from Malaysia to UK. There is also a issue on a HPI search regarding the mileage around 2008 !. I have not seen the car in the flesh yet so have not checked paperwork etc.

The short answer is go buy another one unless maranello will put something in writing and the car is significantly cheaper than others. Are these things really getting that difficult to source now ?

That is what my head is thinking. The car is not cheap and has just gone up in price as a dealer is after it and will pay any price !

What about a car which was originally UK delivered, but has spent some time away?

My 355F1 is an original UK car which I bought in 2010, and imported to Aus.
There's a chance I might soon be heading to the UK to live and work for a few years and I'd like to bring the car with me.
If I decided to sell it while there, would its history be a problem?

That's a slightly different story and the car has remained in your ownership all the time so presumably you have all the history to support the story.
The other car above appears to be a bit of a mix and match at the moment

I feel your pain but maybe it's for the better.
