Pretty new here but want to know if there are any 360 owners in Edinburgh?

I am planning to realise a dream probably like others on here before me, and am looking for advice with regards buying a 360.
Now i know this type of advice has been done to death but i would rather get proper feedback from real owners.

I would be interested in knowing if any Edinburgh owners are planning a meet at any time as i would like to tag along and get a chance to meet up with a few of the guys and get a proper look at their cars. I would rather do it this way than waste a sellers time by turning up with no intention to buy at the moment.

Thanks in advance

Alex

Hi, not Edinburgh but I'm over near Glasgow. I've had my 360 for about 18 months and love it!

There's a meet happening on the 18th May (see the Scottish section of the forum) which I'll be at. If you can make it along I'll be happy to have a chat & and for you to have a look round the car.

Might be also worth posting there to see if any owners more local to you.

Cheers,
Mike.

Suggest you contact David Philips at http://www.davidphillipsautos.co.uk/
he knows the 360 inside out. He was a race mechanic for 2 years involved with the Ferrari 360 Challenge. Extremely helpful guy, he does my 996 Turbo. Must admit I'd love a 360!!

Hi Alex,

Our car club in Edinburgh has a 360 Spider (http://www.fantasyfleetclub.co.uk/fleet/). I'm on the Southside, and more often than not the car lives in my garage :-)

David Phillips and Philip Kyle at PK Supercars are both good shouts - we have used both of them extensively to maintain our Ferraris :-)

Just let me know if I can do anything for you.

I see that PK Supercars has a blue Modena so i will have a look at it when i get home. Even if it is gone, i will still make a point of going down and speaking to the guys and get a bit more advice.

Colin, would i be able to come and have a look at the one in your garage sometime if it's ok? Not interesed in driving it but would be nice to have a look around one and get an owners view of it.

The blue one on his website has been for sale for a very, very, very long time! Doesn't mean it's a bad car, just pointing it out.

I agree that a car that is for sale for some time may still be a great car and maybe it just hasn't found the right buyer...yet.
I'm afraid that I would be following a lot of the crowd here and be looking for a red one cloud9

Miles are not stellar, so I'm guessing patchy service history putting buyers off.

Thanks Colin. I'll give you a shout before i get home in June.

Does anyone have any preferences over the manual and F1 box? Is there an opinion on which one is best or if the paddle shift a bit of a gimmick??

If you don't have preference then it's worth trying them both. I wanted a manual but tried an F1 that PK had for sale and it was better than I was expecting but this one had the CS ECU upgrade which is supposed to improve it quite a bit. Haven't driven a standard F1.

Personally I was after a manual as the 360 is one of the last Ferrari's to be made with a manual box in any decent numbers (manual 430's are pretty rare) and I liked the idea of a manual with the open gate. Also probably a bit cheaper to maintain!

I know everyone's attitude to buying cars is different but I'd say it's worth looking at a good few cars (even if it means travelling down south) as the condition can vary a lot. Plus get it PPI'd by someone who knows them well. Tim at Walkersport is a top bloke.

Mike.

In an ideal world i would like to try the two before i decided but i wouldn't like to waste an owners time on research. If there was one in a main dealer then i would have no problem with that though smile
Like you, I feel it would be a bit of nostalgia to have the manual due to the famous Ferrari gate. I have yet to have an automatic car in my life.
Can you remember if the gearchange was instant with the F1 box? Did it downchange when you asked it too?
