my 1994 355 gtb is currently absolutely bog standard, and I have enjoyed it over the last 8 years

the forthcoming car noise regulations have however brought to the fore the fact that I might not be getting as much from my 355 as I might , were I to fit an aftermarket sports exhaust

the ph consensus on a 355 aftermarket exhaust seems to be that a capristo is best, and this is what I am considering

my main worry is that fitting an aftermarket exhaust might cause other problems , particularly with the CEL's

touch a huge forest of wood, but the only time that my CEL has come on over the last 8 years , was on one occasion 18 months ago, when one of the lambda sensors decided to go kaput

I don't think that I could bear to have the CEL come on just for the fun of it, as some people seem to experience with their 355's

have any of you with capristos on your 355s found that the CEL's came on more frequently after fitting the capristos ?

my car has the motronic 2.7 system, and I have heard that this earlier system is less likely to throw unwarranted CELs
is this true ?

any other negatives to fitting a capristo?

thank you in anticipation of your replies

Absolutely no negatives and it has to be done as it sounds awesome.
In 8 years my CEL has never come on. Ferrari dealer said it was a little tricky fitting but I guess that's cus they only do it once in a blue moon and they wanted to justify the labour charge. I think they had to modify / cut a heat shield and you need to ensure some insulating foam is applied internally to stop the bumper melting apparently

Best couple of grand I have ever spent !

I ran a Nouvalari for the last 3 years and just recently fitted a Capristo without any problems from the ECU or check engine lights.

Agree with this, never had any probs with mine and I was decatted for most of it as well. Heat insulation is required as stated above....well worth money.

Only other things I would say are:

1) having tried both level 1 and 2 extensively when I had mine, go for the level 2 reason being that the *massive* change between valve open/closed on a level 1 sounded a little daft to my (older and more sensible/boring than my years) ears, whereas level 2 being a bit louder closed meant that I didn't feel like a tool when the valve opened.
2) if you're willing, go decat (I declared mine on my insurance, no probs) as it added pops and burbles on the overrun which just completed the "brilliantness" of the setup.

I have now fitted several "x-ost Maranello" systems to f355 and f348 and about to fit one on a Porsche 996 Tt at my Porsche specialist SP Autobahn and in my opinion quality/fit. And especially sound they are very hard to beat. Around half the price as a capristo and as good as on par. No boom in cabin etc either just amazing sound.

No connection to the company whatsoever but feel working on these cars daily they are defo worth considering.
Can send you pics of install etc if genuinely interested.. And also no engine lights etc after installs
